Installing software

Hi.
I have a question about installing certain software.

Some programs and even a few games comes with the option 'Install for anyone who uses this computer' / 'Install for *Me* only'.

What does this do? (Besides the obvious, of course.)
-How does this affect my computer if I only have one user account?
-How does this affect my computer if I have several user accounts?

Does it change installation size? Does it do something else? Which would be prefered on a computer with only one user account*?

*Beside accounts such as 'System', and whatnot.

i dont think it does much besides determine what desktops to place shortcuts on, possibly save the settings globally instead of per account

Install for anyone who uses this computer means that if you have more than one user account on the computer then the program will show up for them.

And install for me only is for the account you're installing it on.

Pretty sure its an operating system thing, and it just divvies up short cut icons. Regardless of account your on, if you can access the hardrive, you can manually find the game.

Creating the shortcuts will add like 15kb of file size to your pc.

Purely for neatness/aesthetics.

the annoying part is those shortcuts cant be moved/deleted by non-admin users most of the time

Conclusion:
I should install for me only, in the future?

I think I always install for everyone, regardless of how many users I have.
I think the main difference, is that it would (I assume) require administrator privileges to install for everyone, I don't think installing for your user account would.
