Angry Twelve dead, 31 wounded in Texas military base shooting

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AFP) – An American army major went on a shooting rampage Thursday at a Texas military base killing 11 people and wounding 31 others before being gunned down, army officials said.

Two other soldiers were arrested after the shooting spree and were being held as suspects, said Lieutenant General Bob Cone, commander at Fort Hood, the largest US military base in the world.

The major was identified by US officials as a military psychiatrist named either Malik Nadal Hasan or Nidal Malik Hasan. He was about to be deployed to Iraq.

While the amount dead keeps fluctuating... we were all stunned when we heard this because one of the guys at my office left the day prior to this incident for that exact base to begin his military training. After finding out he wasnt on base at the time, I later realized, this guy was the &#%@ if he took out that many men before being taken down himself. Regardless its sad, and unfortunatley I think the constantly changing numbers from 7-11 to now 12 is a result of those injured dying.

Um, no, he is not awesome if he took that many men before being taken out himself. Just because he is on a military base does not mean every man or woman there is armed at any given point in time. He could have opened fire in some sort of dining center where people relax and eat.
