Apache 2.2 used to work for me but I hadn't touched it for a few weeks. Anyway, I decided to try and get it running a few hours ago but it wouldn't; which is strange.

"httpd.exe -k start -e debug"

But the apache service just won't start. Trying to get it to run manually via the "Services" window just throws a 1067 error "The process terminated unexpectedly".

Removing the PHP module in the httpd.conf doesn't help to make it run; so it isn't a PHP issue; couldn't be, it was running fine with PHP weeks ago. I didn't make any changes to apache or PHP at all. I installed it months ago and never touched it but now, it has suddenly stopped working =/

I've also tried setting my ServerName to "localhost" and "127.0.0.1" (Edit: typo, not 127.0.0.2) and "127.0.0.1:80" without luck.

Restarting my computer had no effect, too; just hoping it wasn't one of those automatic Windows updates that did this.

Quite honestly, on windows you are better using a pre-packaged bundle such as Wamp, XAMPP, EasyPHP or USBWebserver. They all come with Apache, PHP, MySQL.

Downloaded and used WAMP; worked fine after that, phew. Thanks for the tip-off about WAMP.
