Yeah I already disagree with whatever you say so it makes no difference.
Whatever!

Just look at this

You all have it backwards.
Pluto is not for sale because it is mine and I do not wish to sell it to anyone!

Well, we're living on "Earth" because we were born here not at mars. lol
So it kind of naturally we buy land and so on in here. hmm no?

So why can I buy a piece of land in America? I wasn't born on this continent. When the first "civilized" people set foot on the "undiscovered land" it was exactly the same. We claimed to posses the land, the only difference was that we didn't buy it from no-one most of the time. We just took it.

The distinction between "It's OK to buy land on the other side of the world because it's still Earth" and "It's OK to buy land on another planet because it's still our Solar System" is only a slightly different way of thinking.
There is no restriction as to what belongs to us and what doesn't. As to what we can buy and what we can't. Because we're the ones making those rules.

Today you can buy a car by sliding a little plastic card into a reader, which then causes some 1's and 0's to be flipped someone faaaar away on a massive server farm which indicate your wealth.
Even worse: What is your reward for work? Paper. Colored paper which we arbitrarily give value to.

If you think about this world you'll find so many things that actually don't make sense. They only work because we set the rules for it. If we wouldn't have those rules... wouldn't it sound absolutely crazy to buy a car with a few colored paper bills?

We're just so used to it.
100 years in the future children will say "Whaaat? There was a time where you could not buy planets? And where you payed for food with green little pieces of paper? Crazy"

When america was colonialized (lets forget about native americans for now since there is probably no intelligent life on the other planets of our sun system) there was nothing but war what emerged from that.
Spain vs England, England vs French, Dutch, Netherlands, Germany, etc etc. Everybody wanted a piece of the pie.

I tell you, if somebody would try to do it with the planets as our ancestors did it with america it will be a very sad future for all of us.

You forget how civilized we are now.

We don't conquer stuff anymore. We buy it. :O

Joke aside.

Considering the sheer amount of land, the technical impractibility to reach it and the fact that people socially developed I don't think we'll see open war. Rather, a war of economy and finances. That doesn't rule out civilian casualties, however.

PS:
With socially development I mean that we're more reluctant to go to war than we were in the 1900's. Especially when we'd face other 1st World countries.
Waging war against Iraq, Afghanistan etc is "ok" because they're "rogue countries", but I think no UN-country would think of declaring war on another UN-country.

My assumption. As soon as any country in the west was to claim a planet as its property you would soon see "space pirates" from russia or china which will terrorize any space ships going there.
Of course those ships are not "really" russian or chinese ships, they have either been stolen, or captured, or maybe nobody knows who build them at all.
But i hope you get my point. There is too much greed in the world and in politics. Nobody is going to grant a foreign country such an opportunity to make a fortune all for themself.
Not saying it would be france vs britain or the USA vs germany or any of our western countries because we are tight up so much into our diplomacy towards each other, into the UN the EU and the NATO that its quite impossible for me to imagine any of our western countries engaging in war against each other in any near future.
But West vs East is very well imaginable for me.

I'm pretty sure there is some restriction.
Anyway, Just because someone buy/owns/claimed etc.. a piece of land. It doesn't mean you own the earth. The earth owns us.
Well, the reality is, "Planets" don't belong to anybody. No matter how much you pay. It wouldn't be yours !

Btw: Who would these "billionaires'"pay their money to?

If we wouldn't have those rules... wouldn't it sound absolutely crazy to buy a car with a few colored paper bills?
Oh sure, it's crazy !

Yeah, because you know, those space ships are really easy to steal from places like Russia and China, and the Somalians will figure out how to fly it no problem.

And FireCat how does Earth own me? In what remote way can you rationalize that?

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
