The beta version of my hero is done.
If I need to change anything later, I will (that's why this is the beta version.) But for now it's done! :p

As it was said in the rules the map should be easy tested with respawning creeps and a way to level up your hero. None of this is in your map so it's quite hard to really test your skills.

The hero should also be able to learn and use each of its spells without any modifications to the map in which the hero was submitted. Please make sure that all necessary triggers and new objects (in the object editor) are present upon submission.

level up trigger? as in -level = +1 lvl? every time its used?

Dude, my name is not yet listed in the entry list, or is it just my imagination...

Anyways I'm creating the spells 4 my Frost Elemental..

Basic Abilities:
Chain of Frost, Chilling Armor, Frostbite

Nothing for ultimate yet...

The darn particle emitters of the Firelord model are getting in the way, so I decided to mask it with some Frostwyrm missile attachments!!

New Question:
Does the er...appearance of the tooltips have to be in the same format as normal warcraft games?

For example, can we use colours in the tooltip to highlight important parts or must we just live with plain text as is done in normal Blizzard tooltips?

Edit: Removed the map to work with it some more.
Edit: Ok, no real change at all really so for those of you who allready has tried it, it's nothing new. I just removed some unnecessary actions that didn't want to work and also I made the level up into a command instead of an ability.

Ok I have a question which I totally forgot about. Are you allowed to use the custom script "set bj_wantDestroyGroup = true"? Because it's not really any "call RemoveLocation" or "call DestroyGroup".

I guess it's allowed, since it does remove Unit Group leaks.

Imports are not allowed, if I remember correctly.

This contest is a bit sloppy, though :p
If I have a good idea, I'll join.
Otherwise, I'll just watch.

@Larcenist: I can't see why bj_wantDestroyGroup shouldn't be allowed, it destroys UG's so that make it leak removal IMO. You'll need 100% certain confirmation from Knight though.

@darkRae: I think he means the normal Firelord model (which has swirly fire around his base), as opposed to an imported Firelord

@darkRae: I think he meant 'mask' in the sense of hiding/covering it up i.e. put a mask on your face to cover it up, or in this case, put some snowy effects on the Firelord's @$$ to cover it up ^^

@Ziggy: Well, I (personally) won't be judging tooltips based on how close they are to standard WC3 ones (unless Knight says that's necessary). If it's readable, gives a clear indication of what the spell does, and the relevant stats for the level (damage, duration and such), it'd be fine by me. Again, you'll have to wait for Knight to confirm this.
It is not necessary, but it will add to your score if you make your ability tool-tips as Blizzard-like as possible. This means that you should include a description of what the spell is (and does), and a description of what changes for each level of the ability. You will not lose points if your tool-tips do not exactly match the format of Blizzard's tool-tips, but Blizzard's tool-tips are easily understandable and easily readable. Basically, I want a tool-tip with what the spell does, how it changes when it levels up, and anything else that you think will enhance the tool-tip without making it cluttered. Contact me via PM if you do not understand what this means.

I want to be able to open the map, press Ctrl+F9 (test map), and be able to use your hero. I don't want to have to do any sort of additions to the Object Editor, or anything of the sort.

I read a thread about set bj_wantDestroyGroup = true, and I found out that it does not always remove leaks. If you do use it, though, you will not lose entire credit from me in the leak-less portion, but you might lose 1 or 2 points (depending on how many times it occurs). In short, you can use it, but you might lose a few points from me (not necessarily other judges).
Does masking not involve exporting and importing?
Not necessarily.

the difference would be

internal: "wait, why is my first spell so much stronger than any of my hero's other spells?"

external: "wait, why is my first spell so much stronger than any of another hero's spells?"

does that explain the difference? (can you edit your prev post if i didnt explain it well instead of creating a new one, so we can keep spam to a minimum)


@grymlax: oh god no, not more irrelevant comments. Fun and all as the tooltip may be, comments such as that are gonna get this thread closed :(

Okay so I'm done with the beta version, though I will be editing it when more people start to get finished due to the balance with other Heroes thingie. I might also redo the ultimate since it's boring as hell imo. Though I personally LOVE the Decoy ability.

Edit: I never took the opportunity to remake the hero since studying for final exams took up my whole time. It's the same old boring one. Good luck everyone who entered the contest.

Eeeh... Ok, sure the spells doesn't have to be triggerd but they are mostly alot better if they are. And you only have one triggerd spell wich leaks with everything it can leak... He's ultimate spell is also not a custom spell but remade from the original starfall, it would be nice if you copy pasted the spell. It's also the excact starfall but with a new model file.. Anyhow good job and good luck in the contest.

It doesn't say anything about that your not allowd to edit your hero so I guess you are. Also all previesly submitters are thinking of edit their hero later.

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
