nice. r u gonna add more? cause that is very nice. i wish there was a way people could find it without having to come to this site tho. cause it is very useful.
and the second con of map protecting. u said that people can't learn from ur map. people really won't care if any one else learns. i hate that cause i have tryed to learn so many different things but i couldn't.
[edit]
o yea and i found out every time u go to the site the vistitor number goes up by 2. cause i wanted to see if u did that thing that checks the comps serial number so that if the same guy keeps coming then the number doesn't go higher for him. but it kept going up by 2?

Yes, it stores IP number and doesn't go up if its the same.
I need to move it to an index page, because its on every page as it stands. Its ok for today though.
It goes up by two because someone else is browsing it.
Small tweak.
It was a quick conversion of CGI to PHP, and I'm new to PHP. Give it time
[edit]
Dont worry about people finding it. TheHelper is doing a great job of promoting the site on outside sources & search engines. When theres more complete, I will advertise it on other forums as well.

dude most comps have it so their settibg is obtain ip adress automaticly. mine changes every month. but the counter is nothing so its all good. lol
[edit]
nice loadng screen tutorial. i know now how to make one. thx so much.
btw it is gonna suck when some of those websites go under construction and it sends u to the page that says the page could not be found. cause even after its done with construction u may need to find a new site to get the tools to dl.

Ya when it comes down to it, experience shows that a small hit counter like that will NEVER be the same as the actual hits, as hits come from allover the place & search engines. Even if I used the cookie-counter I have, which uses cookies, it won't be the same.
It just looks cool
YW loading screen.
Yes I know the links may not be good forever, but we've pretty much decided not to use our side as an upload/download site, for bandwidth and space reasons.

I added a new tutorial about importing models to the site.
This tutorial is hard core, and if you ever had questions about importing models, this should answer it.
In the event it DOESN'T, I'll add to it. Mu ha ha ha !

Yes, there was some type of domain screwup or hack, and we had 3 sites down.
TheHelper is working on it; Apologies for any inconvenience.

Great site the tutorials are great... except one the one on skins
in it u show how to edit using ulead, and u say certain areas are already outlined (this seems only true for ulead) i am using photoshop 7 (it can open and save tga) and these out lines dont appear, what do u click on to make them appear?
other then that amazing site.

The leaderboard doesnt work
Why doesnt the leaderboard in your tutorial work?
I copied it perfect but it didnt work it only showed the player number and NOT the kills. i used darg's leaderboard and it worked great and found out the problem with urs. im not going to tell you because as you said ''people have to figure it out themself'' so thats that.
Btw ur maps are really cool.

ULEAD was the only program I've used so far that saves the selected areas like that. This is why I use and recommend it.
Perhaps Photoshop can save a selection area, but if it doesn't show them when you open the file, odds are it cannot.

Its working for me right now. Something might have gotton mixed a little on accident when I reformated it to HTML. Also the conditions are map specific. I did change it around a little; my map keeps tabs on four teams.

Lol
I discovered the World Edit Tutorial before the helper!!!!
I googled editor help, or something like that... and the tutorial site was on the google list, and then i linked from that site to the helper.net
Just so you know that the search engines are nifty for the tutorial site.
Nice websites all around

Not quite sure where this goes ^^;
Hello, I just joined this forum because I looked at the whole site and it is very kick ass! The World Editor Tutorials are very nicely put together and very helpful.

Some short comments about the tutorial site.
The tutorial site has also gotton some new looks & news. I've added some new artwork and features. A lot of time has been spent working on this site, and hopefully our users apreciate the time spent. So check it out when you have some spare time.
As you may know, we've added a new tutorial recently. If your impressed, take the time to post a nice comment or hand out a rep point to the author. Our writers spend a lot of time on these for others in the community.

Help with Quests and Units
After reviewing a few tutorials I managed to figure out how to make cutscenes pretty well, thing is whenever I create a custom unit whom is the source of the scene the portrait is blank afterwards. I have no idea how this is. Also, I can't seem to figure out how to do certain quests. Such as a Hunting quest, or a quest where you have to mark the first requirement as completed. I can't figure out how to do that either that and it's frustrating me to no end trying to figure it out, I know I might have to use variables to get the quests down but I haven't figured out how they work yet...and I'm clueless as to why the game protraits of the units that speak in cutscenes appear as blank in the gameworld.

Is anybody planning to ever make a tutorial for the ability/buff/effect editor? I know it's a ton of work, but personally, I'm "ability-challenged" and could use some help. Is there anybody else out there that is in my situation?

Ability challenged, haha. I'm pretty much finished with the Cinematics Tutorial, which I haven't submitted yet because the damn website is eating up all my time. There's another thing to add to the demo map .
Also, check my thread 'Channel Tutorial'. That should help ya.

I think Ryoko has done something about it somewhere, but I haven't read it yet. I was going to do something after I got my new comp. But you seem like a cool guy and all so if you've got free time then go for your life :-)

Another guy was working on one too, but I havn't heard any results for a longgggg time.
1. I don't care who submits first, I'm hot for it, and still havn't gotton one.
2. Here is a post I made, with good pictures you might wanna use.
http://www.thehelper.net/forums/sho...mple+multiboard
3. There is an example in my Free Trigger Code thread map (second to last post?) It does names, Icons, Kills. If you DL it, pick it apart, and use it for the tutorial, that would be wonderfull and correlate very well with the sample.
4. When we do a tutorial like that, we copy-paste the link to that (post or attachment file) and include it in the tutorial, saying something like "Please see example map found in Free Trigger Code thread"

Ok then. I guess I'll write one when I'm finished with my map. Don't know how long that will take though; depends on how soon I fix the abilities...

Just a general question, probably for Ryoko:
To write a tutorial, do we have to write it in HTML or anything like that? Any particular guidelines (besides accuracy obviously)?

I can answer generally - you should write the tutorial in text and submit your screenshots with it all zipped up (mark where the screenshots go in the text). If it seems good I am sure the World Editor Tutorial guys would work with you to get your tutorial up. They are going to want it in there format though so no point in you HTML'ing it unless you can use the exact same style that is currently used.

Need help with HERO!
How do I make a regular unit such as a peasant worker get experience from killing things and leveling up like that? And how would I make his skills be available to him when he levels like a hero would? Can someone help me please!
