It actually gets a lot more fun at the end (and harder).
Takes a few tries sometimes, and a lot of time (especially if you want achievements, like never dying even once)
As long as you keep upgrading new moves and go along with the storyline, and then wait for the new bosses, it should keep you entertained with a normal+ difficult for at least many hours in storyline.

I got bored of this game after just a short time. The fighting is repetitive, the "consuming" is repetitive, the landscape is bland (same people, same cars, whatever...only the landmarks are interesting). Spamming the attack button and watching people getting sliced up or cars exploding is cool for only so long.
For the first few minutes the jumping and wall running was fun, then that got repetitive too (wall jump/run, jump off roof, glide, repeat). I can't say much for the storyline because I didn't play long. And the graphic quality/realism is nil...kinda ruins the NY setting.

For free-roam, high-flying acrobatics, my favorite is still the Spiderman game (with Doctor Octopus as the final boss) I played for PS2 (or Xbox, I forget). For just plain free-roaming, GTAIV is definitely the king, I love it.

I hate the controls. How the hell do you press X and B at the same time for that special move? I can claw it, but it's hard on the hands o_O...
Other then that it was addictive until the end. Impaling zombies and smashing them into bits = fun.

It's easy, I got all the combos down, :O
But one thing I hate is how the text is small...

Try doing this combo and get a gold medal on every travel event.
You'll realize how you need to be original to get them. ;)

This game's gameplay is repetitive, but when you play the storyline while doing events at the same time, the game often uncovers new things to do and explore, and original new abilities.

I like it. :)

I do understand though that if you start the game, and at the very first "free roam" occasion you stop the storyline and free roam around the city until you've had enough, well then it's expected that the game will become boring. Rise up the difficulty level, play the storyline, try passing all the events on gold medal, purchase the upgrades and actually try them, and it'll keep you entertained! There are a lot more than just 2 powers in this game.

Beat that on my first try, :D

You need Devastator state, and try to get 2 or 3 of them stacked up. So... before you ever attack, consume the Hunters (2 or 3)!

What I did was consume 2 Hunters, go up to a nearby skyscraper, go all the way up, take out Baneblade, and use the air slice (Air + Y), which deals massive damage. Repeat it a few times, then when the neck falls, just keep attacking with the Baneblade. Takes about 2 - 4 neck kills.

And use your Shield, not Bane Armor. The Shield can block the Green Poison Orb thingies.

I think this game was too easy, and repetitive. Nearly all the missions go with the same "flow":

- You run to a place

- You consume an enemy

- You kill a boss which has minions

Not one of my favourites.

*maybe it was good for the first 3 hours I played it :p
I would give it 72/100

I beat this game some time ago.
I really liked it as an action game. Just because it had a lot of action in it. :p
My short description of it is: A mixture of Devil May Cry and Spiderman. -If you like DMC, you're gonna love Prototype.

The game itself wasn't very difficult. Your character is some sort of a Super-Villain, and nearly unbeatable. Plus consuming people regains hitpoints, so dying is quite a challenge. :p

I enjoyed the blood and gore. Devouring people with newly acquired Powers was especially exciting. But became dull in the long run (like everything does.)
The graphics was quite good, and the layout (the city) worked very well. Lots of things was destructable (such as fire-escape-stairs and commercial signs, etc.) I also enjoyed throwing environment, cars and people around. Especially at helicopters.

Human models had lots of death animations (mainly because of consuming) which was nice, but buildings (Hives and Military Bases) had only one.

I didn't much care for the story of the game nor the cinematics. I usually felt a strong urge to 'Press A to skip movie'.

Overall: It's a fun game with lots of action, but don't expect it to be more than 100 hours of playtime (and that's if you're one of those people that must achieve and unlock everything possible. A "normal" gamer will probably beat and get bored with this game within ~40 hours.)

It an alright game. Like others have said, it gets repetitive. The main reason I'm still playing it is because I'm a sucker for storyline. I can't quit mid way and not know what happens (Although usually pretty obvious)
I'm stuck where you have to lure the hunter leader halfway across the stupid map without him losing interest in you.

Use the Whip Fist Power, and keep throwing stuff at him.
