Nope.

I don't know why so many people like #4 though, it's really bland and the sun is poorly made imo.

Well yeah it's not exactly cleanly made and you can't really... see anything, but it's a cool view, with the sun coming up and the trees.
I guess it's because it's a nice, bee-ah-tee-ful view, :D

I voted for number 8. I like rivers and houses, and they look cool together, so why not? :p

Nope.

Well, the map does look nice to me but doesn't fit to my suits. I think it's a place for *cough* romantic people. *cough*

Will the winner map be downloadable?

I was hoping that. It would be nice if all of the maps are available.

That view between 2 trees with a sun has been done like 10 billion times though... I kinda started that trend :p

But it's old now.

I think it looks better in dark, though.

Anyway, good luck on the contest. What's the prize for wannabes? ;D

I liked the second as well - the camera angle did it for me :D

Still, #4 has that "epic" feel ;)

I voted 1#.

1: Original, and well made. Good atmosphere. It could have standed to have more to it, its kind of simple, too, but not in a bad way.
2: Rather simple\empty, and nonsensical.. I path that seems to lead to nowere, thats filled with water, and two timmys sitting in the rain. The grass is taller then the children, too. :D
3. Well, for one thing I really dislike the trees. The seaweed is way to tall! Taller then the people! And, uh, who would crash a boat in a tiny pond? :p
4. Very nice, but It seemed kinda un-original. The sky and fog doesn't seem to match well in my opinion, either.
5. The main problem with this one, wich is quite blaring, is were the water meets the sky in the backround.
6. The water looks wrong (needs to be more flat?) and it seems like the corner towers are floating a bit. IMO, its too close to the cliff edge. Ive never been a fan of those types of towers, and for some reason I get a sense of randomness and clutter in this picture. . .:(
7. Uhh.. Lots of trees in a. . . desseret? That one tree is TOO big, I think. And spiky sand dunes? This one doesn't make sense to me. Oh, and why is the boat not tied up? It will float away like that!
8. The trees are spammed too close together, the the waterfalls are spammed too much as well. The light rays are spammed too much, and they look unrelistic. Are the huge boxes suppose to be blocking his stairway? :D
9. Nice. But the water looks odd, and theres too many sea shells. You could try a few less, more size varation, and bury them in the sand some?
10. The backround looks messed up.. Little to random and spammed? I really don't like wc3's defualt trees, too.
11. Whoa, the fog is way too thick! You'd never see fog that thick of that color IRL. The rest, though, isn't too bad.
12. The water didn't have a very good feeling of depth. Its flat, and you can see the grass under it. Pretty good terrain, though.
13. The spash from the timy jumping in the water seems to be behind the water.. It just doesn't look right. Seems like a good idea, but poorly done, some of the places in the backround are too empty. The stream going into the pool looks wrong, too.
14. Huge corral is huge! =D I can't think of anything strikingly bad, but overall it doesn't seem that great.
15. Nice, but the water just seems off.. The sun is too big. Theres some other small bugs, too, but it wasn't bad.

Sorry, this is real quick so it isn't so good, but I just remembered I voted without commenting.

When the winner is announced, it's up to them if they want to post the map.
I'll ask whoever it is to do so though. :)

The prize is a shit-load of rep and bragging rights.

Yeah, sure. :)
PM me with any ideas you have.

Next contest will most likely be a coding one. But after that, there are no plans. ^_^

Terrain 14: I like island ideas terrain because it gives u the feel its wide open when ther is water around but just land makes it sqweezed and not the open feel.

It's too much work with a large forum.

And Andrew and I have to manage all these contests. This one is a relaxing break for both of us.

Isn't one contest enough? =|

Even if we had 12 contests running at the same time, I can assure you that only one of them would be terraining contests. :p

I'm not saying which mine is, but it's my first time ever entering a terraining contest... and I selected a playable section of my map...

p.s. #4 was my vote, but you all did phenomenal, great job, everybody!

The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
