I'll join the The United Dramatist Union to help start the ball rolling.

I'd like to also say: nice idea, Miz.

I shall enlist for the UDU!
Down with the freelancers! :p

Sorry Monsterous the teams will be unbalanced then, you need to join the Freelancers (because your the last to claim your position) or I need two more people to join the Freelancers...

Unless anyone is willing to switch places for Monsterous or if two more people are willing to join the War.

Also, I need you guys to discuss do you want to do what DogsofHavoc suggested, make all the poetry/quotes/stories... etc. All based on events in the war. This means you can make up locations and keep reusing characters and how they are effected. (and my challenges will be based on explaining the life on Writain in war and out of war.)
Hell I will even let you decide what kind of society your nation is and its history if you wish.

Or we can do it the other way which involves each challenge having a different theme or prompt.

Its up you guys, but I wish to have an answer soon.

I like Havoc's idea. But what era would it be? What kind of theme is the war going to be based around? Might be a bit repetitive it's the same one 'til the end =/

I think it could be really cool, we could create a fiction world unique to thehelper.net. As far as repetitive, if we made the scale of the world and its cultures, peoples, customs, regions etc big enough we could keep it interesting for quite some time.

If you read the Introduction it says 19XX , so WW1-WW2ish and I would give you different challenges for your world to make it not repetitive, and because each victory or defeat of a previous challenge equals to a battle in the world of the game. Your going to have a ton of different content for the next challenge.

As well things don't have to be about the war, they can be about the diplomatic, espionage, love life (with the families of soldiers), etc.

Indeed...

and @ Monsterous, okay your added and we can finally start.

So gather your teams together, make sure you know them and your first challenge will arrive this weekend. Its a relatively easy one, as expected so don't worry about it.

The overall census I believe says they want to do Havoc's idea, so unless there is anyone with major problems with it, speak now or forever hold your peace or not...

Maybe you could do a social group for each team, and make it invite only so they cant spy on eachother :p

Challenge #1: The Battle for Gradford (September 25th, 19XX)
Parties Involved: The Freelancer Federation & The United Dramatist Union
Type of Challenge: A Observation Tank Barrage

Capitals are a very lively place for a nation, even province, state or colonial capitals. All of them have thousands of people working in and out every day, whether that be bureaucrats, politicians, military men, and even just basic citizens working in the massive urban centers that are the large capital cities. Cities show people your nation's pride, social and economic structures, military might and how your government and society work. Even the tiniest detail can explain many things about your people, resources and the values of your society. It is important when designing a world you pick a centralized location to start, so that you can design the rest of your countryside, to ether agree or disagree with certain things. Whether that be cultural, economical or political differences.

Your Challenge: If not already obvious is to describe an observation scene on your Nation's Capital. You can use anything in your imagination as long as you can make sense of it, and keep it in the themes of the Early-Middle 1900s. Of course, your city could be modern for the time and have massive skylines, or be an ancient or colonially type city and have brick buildings. Does your city resemble European and Western Society, or does it resemble Middle Eastern or Asian Societies or does it do both? Is your nation religious, or militarily valued? There is so much to explain, and details are extremely important within the scene. So to get you started on building your nation, the capital is the most important part, as it is the beacon of your empire.

Time Line: 3 Weeks
Deadline: Saturday October 17th 2009 by 12:00pm (Noon) EST (GMT -5)

Primary Rewards: 4 Points
Additional Rewards: None

Random Idea/Hint: Monuments - Monuments such as enormous buildings and perfectly crafted statues can show who or what is important to your empire and can even explain your nations past.
Suggested Length: Anywhere from 1-5 pages, more is possible but you don't want to bore your audience.

Current Battle Map:
The Freelancer Federation: 45 Points | The United Dramatist Union: 45 Points

So do we elect someone to do this? If so I'll volunteer for my team.

That's for you to decide amongst your teams and not in the main thread :p
(You don't want the other team to know your tactics, that makes it no fun)

You can elect someone on your team to do it, or you work as a collaboration each one of you designing parts, it can also be done that who ever is one of the better writers on the team writes it out but everyone contributes ideas to the challenge. As this is your capital and your nations culture, and traditions will be based on it, so be unique and work together, because your stuck with it and your team. ^^

I will be PMing reminders occasionally, ever week or so to remind you guys of the deadlines, etc.
Your teams will receive one soon, when I can get to it. :D

Edit - Did I forget to mention, you get to name your capitals too?

Is there anyway we can get a social group for each respective team? That way we won't have to send private messages back and forth to iron out every little idea.

Yes, I was wondering if I should do that, so I will now that you requested it.
However, I suggest that you still PM people the actual parts of the writing, as the other team can see the social groups.

Edit -
The Freelancer Federation Social Group
The United Dramatist Union Social Group

Enjoy

What's Gradford?

The Location and Name of the Challenge, eventually I will let the winning team decide the name (if not already marked) of the city or location of where the next battle will be located, but just to make it simple that plot point on the map where the battle icon is (the two gold swords) is called Gradford.
