The world of gaming is evolving every generation. The most recent editions to this form of culture from the three top companies have truly changed gaming from what we were used to. To massively improved online capabilities, to new controls, to a brighter, more clear picture like we've never experienced before, there are amazing things being done with video games. Consoles are not limited to playing games anymore; They're becoming the center of your living room, playing movies, going online, connecting people to new kinds of communities.

The only question is "Which one is better?"

Vote for your favorite system and debate the pro's and con's of each system. I've only given the three most popular systems, but I'm listing an "Other" if you really decide to supply something else.

KEEP IN MIND! We're talking about NEXT-GEN CONSOLES! Not older consoles, handhelds, or your computer. While these may be great ways to play video games, these do not fall into the same categories.

LOL seth. selfish xD close other polls and make YOUR OWN. i call sabotage!

"understand, that the PS3 exclusive games really bring out the graphical capabilities of the PS3 (for example MGS4) and that really is something that makes it worth the price (which is now lowered to 299, i bought it when it was still expensive). Price is probably the only thing that might stop a prospective buyer, but the plain out fact that some of the PS3 exclusive games have critics saying it is a good enough reason to just get a PS3.

Littlebigplanet:
The reviewer, Chris Roper, also suggested that the game may even be a reason to buy a PlayStation 3; "If you own a PlayStation 3, you cannot miss this. If you don’t have a PS3 yet, this is the reason to get one."[13]

I honestly do think PS3 is better in a logical way.
For one reason. You get a blu-ray player, that was pretty much the reason why my dad bought one -.-
PS3 has hit the gaming world with 3 huge titles LBP, MGS4, Uncharted 2
PSN is free, even though i dont use it" (mine, from last poll)

I voted PS3 because it does more than just play videogames.

Now before you flame me, keep in mind that I am not a big console gamer, and play most of my games on the computer, which is why PS3's multitasking capabilities are ideal for me.

I don't happen to have a PS3, but I do have a wii and it is quite fun for party games.

I bought a PS3 so I could use blu-ray.

It has since evolved into a powerful, fun, gamin system.

Worth every penny.

First of all, watch what you accuse people of, even in jest.

Second of all, the other one wasn't multi-choice and the intro to the poll kinda sucked.

Hence the re-make.

I have all of them: PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

I really don't know which to choose...

I got the PS3 myself and thus voted for it. All around I favor the PS3 over the Xbox 360 since from my experience there's way too many bratty kids on Xbox Live and game developers for 360 seems to mostly make shooters for it. Shooters are a dead genre to me, you get sick of them after a while.

Xbox 360 all the way :D Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough but I havne't seen that many good games on the PS3 that aren't available on the Xbox as well. That, and the PS3 updater doesn't really like my connection and has a stupid habit of randomly failing updates.

You can mute all non-friends over XBL in the Settings Menu (or so I'm told) :p

Well, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii all have network services...

PS3 has the ability to connect to PSPs
Xbox 360 can be compatible with C#-made Windows games. (With the use of XNA Game Studios)
Wii can be connected to NDS, bit a bit restricted. And they have Wiiware.

Wii has the upper edge in massive backward compatibility.

I have Wii. I love it. Wii is the best one for me as I can download all the old classics from Virtual Console so I don't have to stick with new crap.

I don't have any but I've spent the most time with the 360 and it's given the most problems too. Controllers going out of sync, batteries running out, can't play online because EVERYONE needs a Live account, etc.

More of my friends have been getting PS3s lately, so I've been getting exposed to that a lot, and I gotta say, it has always been my favorite but now that's been reinforced with the slim and how everything just works fine. And the control never loses sync, comes with rechargeable batteries, the graphics are awesome and there is free online. I might be getting one around Christmas with my sister.

XBox 360 ftw!
It came out first from the three, so it has seniority.
And it's for more hardcore gaming, so real gaming. And it's not as pricey as the PS3.
Although it has problems, it's a trade.

Psh, buying the PS3 just for the blu-ray.

Wii is good for casual parties and stuff.

Lol, it was rushed, that's why thousands of consoles get the RRoD.

PS3 is 299, I think there the same price. Except for the arcade which doesn't come with a hard drive, or blue-ray, or wireless Internet. Buy the time you buy all that it's like 300$.

What do you mean it's not as pricey? They are both $300. Except with xbox live, which is pretty much a necessity, you'll be paying $50 for a year. So let's put it at $350. Then with all the batteries you'll be buying for the control, I'll say 2 every month if you're a "hardcore gamer" that'll be another $15 (And that's being generous, you'd probably use more than 2 a month and you probably wouldn't find batteries that cheap in retail stores). $365. I think rechargeable batteries as standard is really something Microsoft should work on. And well you could argue that the xbox live online play is much better than the PSN, but they both definitely have their share of faults.

Xbox 360 is my favorite, hands down. The interface and the game lineup fits my likings. The only downside to the 360's are all the hardware problems people get.

PS3 is fun every now and then in a few games, mainly LittleBigPlanet. My mom and I play that quite a bit, it's a fun game to play with friends/family, not so much by yourself, for me at least.

Wii is, in short, a "party console". It's fun when you have people over and want to play silly games. Not too many games that are really good for flat out hardcore gamers. Like I said in the last thread about this, when I have girls over, they always want to play the Wii over the other two because of the games and "It's cool!".

Just to argue with the batteries, I don't buy batteries for my controllers anymore. I bought rechargeable battery packs, and a little station charger for them. Now my controllers are always charged and it doesn't really cost me a thing :)

Same with me, all my controllers have the rechargeable packs on them, and you just plug it in to the USB ports in the front when it's low. Those are the first things I buy when getting a new controller.

But the BS thing is you need to buy the rechargeable packs in the first place. Increasing the price of the controller like 15 dollars.

I ordered like five blocks for 15 dollars. They're just little aluminum blocks with holes drilled into them
  • Varine Varine:
They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
