Other than being typed faster, what advantages does Galaxy have over gui? or did blizzard use a complete function list in gui?

Well, typing ia faster than clicking, and with Galaxy (and JASS too), you have much more control over your code.

What if you can type but don't know what to type?

So, before anyone learns what to type, clicking is faster (because anyone can read it).

Boldfaced to emphasize the uniqueness of GUI.

I personally can't read GUI. I tend to avoid it as much as possible.

Thoughts about world editor GUI:

My biggest 3 reasons I left the world editor.
1.No 2D Arrays. Had to fake it in every line of code. Was a pain.

2.No private variables

3.No Classes, vJass offers.

Encapsulation With classes were very helpful.

Beyond that I personally don't have much of in issue with it with the world editor. I still clicking alot with vJass.

My Point:
Galaxy allows the same things in GUI as its Jass. Personally I am more a custom to the typing it out now, And I think it may be possible to do structs in jass and not in the GUI. if thats the case, Ill stick to the jass, If not, Its a toss up for me, as I Code almost as fast in the gui.

Um...those are not Galaxy.

So the sc2 beta is coming with an early version of galaxy edit too? We can already start map developing? I really need this question answered.

I've signed up for a beta key and am patiently awaiting the next batch

You won't be seeing the editor any time soon, even after you have received the beta key.

The editor will only be included when you have purchased the retailed version, which you'll be seeing it on the shelves no later than December 2010. (Release Date < December 2010, don't forget...)

...When did you get a job at Blizzard's HQ?

Besides that, assuming Sc2's GUI will be flawless in terms of the conversion to Galaxy; I still prefer coding syntax and typing, over full sentences and clicking.

Pretty much. They said it most likely wont come with the beta since they are looking at a short beta.

We do know in some way by others in Battle.net community:

Since beta is out, calculate the usual time given by developers to start balancing:

3 ~ 5 months. We believed it will be out somewhere near the mid-Summer to anywhere in Fall of 2010.

I'm almost positive that Beta will include the Galaxy Editor. Of course blizzard has no reason to release it since it's just an editor and has nothing to do with balancing. Either way I bet they will come out with some form of it. Or atleast hint on it some more like they have been.

They shouldn't have to release the editor with beta either since well, the editor all it really is: a syntax checker, terrain editor, and compiler (SC2 Environment). They're already customizing StarCraft 2 with it and it's working. No need to test it.

I'm hoping to get the WHAT to type down before galaxy comes out. I'm still struggling to translate my GUI knowledge to JASS :\

That really is untrue, ofc it needs testing, I am extremly confident that our thousands of modders could provide blizzard with feedback about how features can be improved, where things leak and so on.

The things Blizzard are using the editor for are not like many of projects that will appear when the Galaxy Edit releases, thousands modders will find flaws a lot faster than Blizzard.

  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
