Anyone had any luck using attachment points?

I am trying to create a unit (bullet) on the weapon attachment point of a Marine gun. (the end of the barrell)
There is a trigger that returns an attachment point, dunno how to use it.
And what reference the attachment points, Bone = 24? tried all 3 names

how would you go about triggering this?

Looks like Bone 24 of the rigging "inside" is at the nozzle of the gun. Which Trigger are you talking about?

UnitGetAttachmentPoint

It is under Unit.

All I want to do is create a unit at the end of the barrell

what in the fuck do you pass this function?

I see in the data editor where you can add attachprops id and key but I cant make sense of how you use these values with
UnitGetAttachmentPoint ()

Have you tried just Weapon?

That's how I attach longer energy beams to my dark templars using the Attach Actor to Unit trigger.

After testing overload119 Stalker demo, using a projectile system, i may just switch to that instead of using a unit as a bullet.

Not sure if a marines gunfire is an actual projectile or an effect though.

It's an effect. There is no projectile.

And I believe that overload199's stalker demo still uses an unit as a bullet. (;

This actually depends if you define the projectile as the visual entity that is projected from the model's weapon, of the set of miscellaneous characteristics that define it.
Although, you can have projectiles without actors.

Wrong. Every projectile is an Actor.

lol. Wrong it's a square not a rectangle!

if it was a unit he would need to create it

stalker.jpg

the weapon creates the projectile unit -.-
just look at the data editor. He is attacking a point with the weapon of his stalker. The conversation in the thread was about the projectile which is a unit in the data editor. He explained to us how to make projectiles collide upon units. Since i recaptured what he did I'm 100% sure he uses projectiles/units.

Seems to me like projectiles without Actors is kind of like masterbation
its fun and all, but in the end, you would rather be having sex.
