So? Whos liking this?

You can have up to 14 players, 2 players more than Wc3's. 15 if you count the hostile player.

Think of it... 14 player FFA match, 7v7, 2v2v2v2v2v2v2, and so on..

This opens up more possibilities, but its gonna be laggier then hell for massing games Lawl.

could be awesome if used correctly.
14 is enough to make up an entire troop, so co-op games could get wicked.

but considering that I will often lag in wc3 this will lag like never before!

Considering Starcraft is ALL about large scale battles, fighting with large armies, imagine a 700 marine army going base to base

I disagree on the usability of this.

Unless you're doing DOTA, most maps won't get a Full House ever (using the whole `I pick which map I want to play` room.) Taking the division of servers in consideration, most average maps will see a max of 4-5 players at the same time.

lol? Have you played warcraft 3 at more crowdy times? In the years after TFT came out I never had a problem finding other players...

I think there will be a lot more SC2 players right in the release. Im a little worried that we wont have any possibility to see which map is worth playing right after the map publishing service goes live^^

So you could basically call your map World of Warcraft, get 14 people in it and just let it crash as soon as the map loaded :p

I have. However, take in mind that Starcraft 2 Custom Game match-making is completely different to Warcraft 3.

In warcraft 3, you could host a map and people would see it in the list and flock to it.

In Starcraft 2, for people to flock to your room, you have to be lucky enough that they go to the list and select from all the maps they have, your particular TD.

Wrong! 16 user controllable players is max not 14.

for aos map limit is 14 or 12 if its a dota with neutral-hostile Roshan and etc.

so no revolution here... still just 12 players for aos!

here will be more logic if in the future add-on blizzard allow actually 16 users + 4 non-user controllable (to control spawns, neutrals)

Also in WC3 is actually 16 players - 2 is hidden in triggers via neutral victim/ neutral hostile. So 12 players Aos is also possible in wc3. No revolution at all.

I think it's too early to say if Starcraft II customs will take aeons to get a game going. SCII should have a larger player base than Warcraft III, given it's drawing in both people from Warcraft III, and the those for Starcraft that refused to go over to Warcraft III.

And if players can download maps before they join, that will cut down on join/leave syndrome.

last time I went n b.net it wasn't that hard to get a game going...
that was a few months ago.

so many people will be playing sc2 that there should be no problem getting a game full. At least if your willing to wait a minute or two.

No, it's 14 if you want neutral shops and hostile creeps, 16 if you want neither. With the new "make unit uncommandable" functions, you can even have team creeps owned by players without them being able to mess with the AI.

People people. 14/16 slots does not necessarily mean 14/16 players when we're talking about UMS maps.

They're will always be slots taken up for computer controlled events like it was in Warcraft 3.Just because the Starcraft 2 editor is more powerful than the WC 3 one doesn't necessarily mean that computer controlled events will disappear. If anything this would mean more computer controlled events.

You can make friendly NPCs uncontrollable and owned by player 1. Depending on what you want the computer units to do, you can easily have 14 players with no problems.

are we sure yet that there are in fact 14 slots then?

16 slots. 0 to 15. 0 is neutral by default, and 15 is hostile by default, but they can be changed to user.
