Rant about sevenforums/eightforums...

I'm annoyed...

About a year and half ago I was permanently banned at sevenforums for creating a second account -- I didn't know I couldn't at the time. I'd sent many e-mails requesting to be unbanned, explaining the situation but to no avail. I didn't receive a warning, nor a temporary ban, but a permanent one straight off the bat.

Oh well, what can you do? It sucks. I signed up for eightforums, and I've found to my surprise that I'm permanently banned after about a day or two -- for having multiple accounts on sevenforums... that's right... for having multiple accounts, a year and a half ago, on a different forum.

What on earth...? Is this not ridiculous? I'm pretty ticked off at them right now. Fair enough, I broke the rules on the first forum albeit unintentionally... but I didn't even post on the second yet! For goodness sakes.

//end rant

Can't you just sign up with a different email address?
I don't think it'd help because they detected that second account I made in the first place. So if I did, they'd probably just find it again and do the same thing. Thanks for the input though.

If you use a different IP, different email, different username I can't see how they would be able to link you to your other accounts.

Ouch, that is pretty harsh, But why did you create a new account in first place? Just curious

It's the same IP. It was just a different username & email.

Short answer: my folks wanted to control my usage habits, so they put a password on it. They'd log me in whenever I'd ask, as long as it's fine with them, and they forgot the password.

I was looking for help to recover it and I made the mistake of mentioning parental controls. Messaged some mods a few times asking for the thread to be re-opened, but they wouldn't even reply. I had to get the password though, because I couldn't lose the data on it. So, I created the second account. Didn't know multiple accounts was against the rules, I've had several on different forums over my time. I've even got two here, I requested a name change and AceHart just told me to make a new one haha.

I managed to figure out the password though. There was a typo. I kept typing it over and over again (without touching the keys) looking for where they might've made a mistake and I found it :D

Sevenforums sucks... and so does Eightforums...

I don't know how to do that, and to be honest I'm not really worried about it. I just don't like them, but if I ever change my mind I'll keep it mind. Mmm, I was eighteen at the time and it wasn't really a choice. They didn't want me staying on too much.

How did you know I got a new iMac? I don't believe I told anyone here

What would happen if someone here made an account for you?
Haha, thanks for the thought but what Slapshot said below sounds about right.
they would notice that a banned IP logged into that account as soon as he logs in with the account we made, and most likely ban that account as well
And to top it off they'd probably ban the new IP address too.

It happened to me last Friday. I got banned for life from Seven Forums. What happened was a forum member posted on a thread that was about installing Windows Movie Maker.
That he like one of my videos he had seen and he posted a link to it. And I posted back
to him on the same thread thanking him for liking my video. About 20 minutes later, when I logged back in I got this nasty message.

Seven Forums-

You have been banned for the following reason:
Persona non grata.
Date the ban will be lifted: never.
I looked it up on Wikipedia, and persona non grata means-person not welcome.

I cannot believe that Seven Forums have banned me for life over that and they have
deleted all of my posts. As if I was never there.

But the people that run Seven Forums also run Eight Forums and Vista Forums. That is Eight Forums and Vista Forums are run by the same admins who run Seven Forums. Which is probably why you
could not register on Eight forums. So they are all the same company.

But if you are looking for another Windows 7 forum,
try Windows 7 Forums-www.windows7forums.com

They are a separate forum from Seven Forums, that is Seven forums and Windows 7
forums are 2 different forums. And they are not connected with each other.
And Windows 7 Forums also have their own Windows 8 forum-Windows 8 Forums,
www.windows8forums.com.

I have been a member of Windows 7 Forums for over a year now. And I find them very
easy going and not very strict. Even if you post off topic, they will not ban you, or even warn you unless it goes right off topic.

So try Windows 7 Forums,if you are looking for another Windows forum.

But Seven Forums are very strict, one word off topic and a moderator will delete your
post. So it is difficult to have a discussion on there.

But don't try to get back on Seven Forums again by signing up for a new account under a new user
name or email address. They have a record of your IP address, as they have of everybody's. And
they will know that it's you.And then that will just make angry with you and they could ban your IP
address.
I would forget Seven Forums and move on. Andrea Borman.

Yeah, I don't really want to go back to them. I find it pretty pathetic what they did to me and also to you... doesn't even sound you like broke any rules. It's ridiculous.

I'll give those two forums you mentioned a shot sometime, thanks for that =)

Thank you for your reply. Seven Forums www.sevenforums.com is the forum I got barred from.

But Windows 7 Forums www.windows7forums.com is the forum I belong to now. And it is much better than Seven Forums. They are not as strict as some other forums are.

But Seven Forums are very strict. And some forums will not even let you put your signature,or let you put your name at the bottom of your posts.

But what made me feel worse was that Expert Law Forums banned me for life a few hours later.Because I started a thread about my unjust ban from Seven Forums.

So I was barred for life from 2 forums within 24 hours. First Seven Forums and now Expert Law forums. For posting about my ban from Seven Forums. Andrea Borman.

Yikes, that sucks. That's pretty stupid, they should all take a chill pill and stop instant banning people when they're not doing anything wrong.

Well Expert Law forums were very nasty to me anyway when I posted on a thread last year and they locked that thread. See here how they upset me and wound me up-
Here-http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107763

And then there is the thread I started about my ban from seven Forums,
here-http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130415

And then when I logged into Expert Law forums I got this message-

Expert Law Forums-

You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never.

Which is a similar type of message to the one that Seven Forums gave me when I logged into my account.

I think that,Expert Law forums were taking the mickey by posting a similar ban message to as Seven Forums did.

Did Seven Forums do that to you? That is say persona non grata to you when you logged into your account? Andrea Borman.

Eh that sucks, and no I didn't get that message. It just said "multiple-accounts" or something like that.

But you did not have multiple accounts did you? Or did you have have more than one account without realizing you did?

Sometimes when you have signed up on a site because you want to answer a post or take part in a discussion. You register, and then maybe you don't go back on the site again. And then a year later you may have forgotten that you were already a member of that forum. And so you forget your user name and password and set up a new account. Did that happen?

But if not then why did they accuse you of having multiple accounts?

But I have heard that other people have been banned from Seven Forums for no reason. So it has not just happened to us, but to other people. So I think that Seven Forums are very strict, and stricter than most forums.
But if you want a Windows 7 forum, try Windows 7 forums www.windows7forums.com.

They are not very strict, even if you go off of the topic. And the atmosphere is more relaxed there.Andrea Borman.
