China’s rampaging anti-Japanese mobs have further humiliated their nation in the eyes of the civilised world by “mistakenly” burning down a Samsung factory located in China, apparently having confused South Korea’s leading electronics company for a Japanese one.

The incident joins a variety of similar attacks where rioters have been confused by property bearing logos which are similar to those of major Japanese brands, or in some cases where it apparently simply looked enticingly valuable.

The similarities between the insignia of Mitsubishi and that of Mercedes-Benz proved too much for one such eager Chinese patriot, who ended up unintentionally stealing the wrong hood ornament from an evil foreign car and showing off the spoils online.

However, there has also been some doubt as to whether the mobs may simply have hated Korea as well as Japan (some surveys have indicated Korea is as least as unpopular in China as Japan), or whether they are indeed simply compromised of mindless xenophobes who hate all that is not Chinese.

After the mobs crippled a man into coma, this occurs.

so is there going to be a time where you don't post every single anti china news from your beloved forum? So when i come on to TH to read some headline news i don't see every news extremely biased (true still) news towards china?

It's not as if we can't objectively search for other sources of possibly contrary information, or simply ignore the entire issue.

But not everyone have the motivation to look for other source, and how do others know this is not the best possible source?

And there comes a point where if you were to visit a forum you've been visiting for 7 years and all i see on the headline news now is anti - china new, you kinda get fed up. Needless to say i am chinese and being in Australia for a while now we use racist jokes all the time and i don't normally tip at this kind of stuff but enough is enough.

Maybe by the NSFW nature of the sites?

I concede. The exploding MIC stuff is a fine gag every now and then, but stirring up anti-national sentiments is a different matter.

Needless to say i am chinese
Would that be China-born or simply ethnicity? Just curious.

Tom is from china as far as i know.
It seems only naturally to me that he would post chinese news since that is what he is surounded with in everyday life.
If somebody from the USA or Europe would administrate the news-section as much as tom does i bet there would be more "western-centered" news.

Besides that, riots which end in factories burning and people being crippled by the mob is pretty important news, after all, human lifes are at risk there.

Dunno 'bout everyone else, but I'm a pretty solid American stereotype, so I feel like you could at least figure that the majority of Americans around my age will have the same opinion of most of these articles:

Doesn't affect me, so fuck it.

Not tryin' to be insensitive, just frank.

I'll try to improve myself for this then. Although, I'm also Chinese (Taiwanese), I see these news in a different light.

His taiwanese, and many taiwanese don't consider themselves as chinese. I don't know his view on that and ill leave it at that for now.
the riot is obviously important, i never disputed that nor did i say don't post any. If you look through the pages, you would see news that are primarily negative news only for those involved with china, so it's either anti-china news or science. If that isn't negative propaganda than i don't know what is.

I was born in china, moved to australia early then moved back to china when for like 5 or 6 years then back to australia.

If the news article is really anti-China, I would have not posted it to here.

Now that KaerfNomekop mentioned it, the exploding news really does look like a decent gag, when in fact they're just very odd news floating around with only the topic revolving around the "explosion" theme.

I think if you are seeing news that you believe is anti-china orientated quite often, you may start misinterpreting things people say or news articles like this one to be anti-chine orientated as well. Its simple conditioning really. Anyway, I hope this doesn't make Tom stop posting articles out of fear of bringing a bad reputation of the site. KaerfNomekop made a great point when he said: "It's not as if we can't objectively search for other sources of possibly contrary information, or simply ignore the entire issue." The article may have been written to be as NigerianRulz portrays it, however I did not read it this way, as I am sure Tom did not also. What I got from these articles is: A mob burnt down a factory and crippled a man driving a Japanese car. If you are from Australia, as am I, you would see this is similar to the Cronulla riots, where a group of Australians assaulted pretty much anyone of a different ethnic background for no real reason. When I read about that I was shocked, but didn't interpret the ongoing news as anti-australian. That is my reasoning on why I think you may be conditioned to think the articles are anti-china orientated. I hope this has provided some insight to everyone and has not seemed ignorant. - Corey

It seems you guys don't like to read my post.

I think if you are seeing news that you believe...

First of all, i have looked through pages from Sankaku forum and all i see from that site is anime and news regarding china. Coincident? That there are simply no other news regarding anywhere else?

And at no point did i ever address this article as being the main source for what i said, this isn't even about this article. I said there comes a point where if the first 4 pages of archives for headline news is about the negative side of china and science is there not a unbalance and injustice?

This riot is obviously caused by something bigger than racism... as they are the same race... And regarding that it is between Japanese and Chinese, and with news coming from a what i assume Japanese site, do i not have the right to dispute this news as what i said?

Talking about riots, there are massive Muslims riots happening, why do i not see any of that on here?

"Sorry about that dude. Meant to burn down a building the next block over. Wanna come?"

And the riots in the Middle East are one, not that big of a deal, and two, always happening, and three, they are on here occasionally. But in the end they make no difference because most of them turn into the same thing, over and over again.

News articles are almost always negative.
Nobody is interested in something going right because we expect it to go right.
Nobody wants to hear about how well everything goes.
At least, the news are build around this concept.
If you are looking at regular news, for example in TV or in newspapers you will always get the negative messages. Thats just what people are interested in.

And once again, since tom is from china he is posting news which are especially important to him because they are his daily life.
If tom was from america i bet there would be far less news about china and more western-centered happenings.

By the way, the riots in lybia were mentioned here on the site, the US-ambassador was killed, there is an article about that.

Lets look at the news posted here, how of them are negative?
Regular news are local, based on the country you're in and the important world news. Last time i checked this is a international forum.

Why are you trying to neglect the fact that almost all of the negative news on here are those based in China?

China does not equal Taiwan please get that right. Taiwan is a part of the republic of China, his views does not necessarily represents mine as i know MANY taiwanese that despise being called a chinese. And i seriously doubt any of the news he posted actually applied to him in real life, though this is just my speculation.

Those riots are happening world wide as far as i know, here in Australia they are getting pretty violent, 6 police officers injured etc... So suddenly human life is valued more than a burnt building?

So is it wrong by me to ask for more news than just those focused on China?
Why do you all try to neglect that fact? Is it not obvious? Do i need to do a statistical analysis to prove it? At no point did i say stop posting the news, why are you all acting like im the villain?

I'm getting sick of trying to prove my point, if you cannot read my posts and comprehend it properly than i have nothing else to say.

I dont? Please can you quote my reply in which i neglected the fact that most news here are about china?

I gave a reason for it, since tom was posting them, for him that is local news, probably, i dont know exactly where he is from.
I dont say the news is not primarily focused on china, never did. I just said what i think is a good reason for them to be.
As i said, if somebody other then tom, lets say somebody from central europe, would put as much passion into the news section as tom does then there would possibly be a better balance between western-centered and eastern-centered news here.
But tom is the only forum member with such a dedication to post news articles on a regular basis.

I dont know what is going on in asia, i just know about european news.
If i was to add news articles here on a daily basis they would all be about european news most probably. I am a european, i know what is going on in the countries around me.
And tom knows what is going on where he is living. There is nothing wrong about that if you ask me.

You try to justified these news because you think he is local, that is like me posting news about new Zealand when i live in Australia, then you go on to say that almost all of the news are negative.

So are you encouraging the continuation of these news from that site of source?
I'm not trying to diminish what Tom does, i appreciate him taking the time to post everything but can you honestly tell me with a straight face that site sankakur is not blatantly anti-china?

Okay like you said, Asia. Going by what you're saying Asia = China.
When was the last time you've seen news about a country in Asia other than China?

I dont know what is going on in asia, i just know about european news.

You just proved my point. If you don't know whats going on in Asia yet all the news you see from Asia is from here then what happens?

I'm not judging the person, I'm judging the source so before you reply please keep that in mind.
