The last game I got was L4D2. It was for free...
I only have 2 games. The other game is also a free one.

So yeah, summer sale is pretty much irrelevant to me. :p

Yeah the majority of my games are free or gifted to me. It's amazing I've gotten even this many games without paying for them, ha.

There's some nice deals going on in this sale. Actually a lot of interesting indie games that are cheap, like $1-5. Too bad even those, for now at least, I'm too cheap to pay for. But one day, I will go crazy on a steam sale. One day.

I am just playing my old games from the 90's which I still have on pirated CD's.
Good times.

Or I am playing NES, SNES, Gameboy or N64 games on emulator.
Yeah, I have a huge 1920x1080 screen and I am playing a Gameboy game in fullscreen mode!

I bought Skyrim for $5. Never played anything like it--I've always been an online, competitive gamer. It's quite a different experience. It almost feels like how I feel when I read a really good fantasy novel in how it feels like an escape into another world. As opposed to Dota/League of Legends where the "human element" of constantly interacting with allies/enemies, as well as chat/teamspeak/Skype break any inkling of immersion.

As I play Skyrim, I'm astounded by the detail and scale of level and environment design, and I just sometimes walk around aimlessly to admire it.

A part of me feels like I got way too much for my $5 (which I did), but I like to think that Bethesda made enough from other sales to support themselves.

Isnt skyrim just a cheap piece of crap compared to the earlier installments like morrowind and arena?
The only things I ever hear about it is how they ruined the series and dumped it down with every new installment.

When it comes to immersion Gothic was always a nice game. The divinity series was also pretty good.

Lol, same here. Did you play summon night for GBA? Easily my favorite title. I also play a lot on my cellphone which has a GBA emulator. Right now I'm playing lotr: the two towers, which plays a bit like Diablo

I heard lots of good stuff on Skyrim compared to Oblivion. E.g., revamped leveling system, being able to enter relationships, and some more.

Obviously Gothic was great. Which divinity games are you referring to? I only played the first one (Divine Divinity), of which I still sometimes listen to the soundtrack (which is free). I remember buying it for two bucks in a supermarket, and when I played it the colors were all wrong. Turned out the graphics card in my dad's PC was too old... I only played it 5 years later on my own PC, but it was the best 2 bucks I ever spent on a game!

Might be, oblivion was awful. The worst game I ever bought. I was comparing it to morrowind and arena though, and those 2 were very very good games.

I also only played Divine Divinity, and I totally agree that the soundtrack kicks ass. Especially War & Peace, Sighs of Elvenkind and Time for an Ale were my favorite pieces.
But I also heard that the other divinity games, especially Divinity Original Sin were very good.

I got Portal 1 and 2, Bioshock 1 and 2, World of Goo and all the Serious Sam games :D. All of them for like 20-something dollars. Awesome.

I ordered like five blocks for 15 dollars. They're just little aluminum blocks with holes drilled into them
  • Varine Varine:
They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
