"A Man Named John McCain"

There once was a man named John McCain.
Whos name alone brings pity and shame.
His skin tone white, and his policy lame.
What a sad old man, this John McCain.

This sad old senator named John McCain.
Who's empty promises are 'more of the same'
Who bankrupts our economy for his politcal gain.
What a sad old man, this John McCain.

After 30 years, he has no plan.
But to drill our basins, and avoid Iran.
He lost Bin Laden to the Taliban.
And fails our promise in Afghanistan.

Terrorist cells are spread worldwide.
That threaten freedom and sanctity of life.
Security and diplomacy could prevent an attack.
Yet McCain thinks the war, only exists in Iraq.

A misguided war, and the lies we were told.
Decieved proud Americans, and the values we hold.
Four thousand dead, and families in pain.
His tactics are sound, yet strategy insane.

The Bush Administration, whos record is fact.
Neglects the economy or global warmings impact.
Lets a great city drown with a populous black.
And reads to children during terrorists attack.

The saddest fact about John McCain.
Is he stands behind Bush, thier policies same.
Once again, tempt America, on the idea of change.
Again we fall further, Our future restrained.

It's the responsibility of commander and chief.
To bring to your party, a capable VP.
A partner of America, whos ready to lead.
Not sacrifice experience for your political greed.

And so he moves forward with no plan of action.
The Republican way, full of deceit and distraction.
His campaign still struggles to regain its traction.
For a wiser America has dismissed this faction.

Before America falls backwards, letting history defeat her.
Let's pass on the great soldier, and elect a wise leader.
A messenger of hope, and an agent of Change.
A prosperous America, now finally, in range.

This lame duck senator named John McCain,
Has faulted America through neglect and disdain.
He's defaulted his honor, and experience gained.
This sad, sad old man, named John McCain.

I like the political poem here, Good Job. It sounds much like a rap song (except I would actually listen it...).

Flow 5/5
Rhyming was at top notch, I must say... Much like a rap song (as I said above). Each Word and setence went with the one above. (Perfectly I must say)

Topic 5/5
The Topic was also perfect, probably one of the best political poems I have seen in a while if not ever. Not (just) because I dislike McCain it just was a really good and clever poem.

Really I find it to be an excellent poem. 12/10

Wow, a decent little poem you've got here, and not pertaining to ganj in any way, shape or form? It seems almost preposterous... I feel obligated to -rep you just because it's subject is so different than what we normally see from you. Are you in a dry spell? Gettin' harder to find that chronic? Or has that chronic been gettin' so chronly that you're too baked to do anything EXCEPT try to figure out who you want to be the next president? Oh well.

Great poem, bud. I'm gonna say +rep, but I imagine that I need to spread the love a lil more before I can do that. Be easy, yo.

First off, I will say that the flow is perfect, and you got your point across oh so well.. But that's my problem (your point).

I'm not going to spend much talking about the politics of it, because that's not what this is supposed to be about. But I will say this: In my opinion, artists of any kind should stay away from politics. It's too powerful of a topic to be decided upon and written about by one man.. That's why we have a democracy..

This really angered me:
>Has faulted America through neglect and disdain.
He fought for YOUR freedom, and now you say he is neglecting America? It's a sad world we live in these days..

5/5 on the poem.

5/5 on the poem.

He killed thousands of innocents, and many others that did the same went back to Vietnam to apologize, he did nothing of the sort.

That wasn't the point I was making in that stanza.

I was articulating the fact that McCain has been in the senate for over two decades and has done nothing to address Americas energy crisis, economic crisis, education, amongst many other issues that impact Americans.

I do agree with you though that politics is a topic to big for poetry.
But at the same time, this is just a poem. I wanted to vent..... and if you happen to agree with what I say...then so be it.

In case you havn't noticed, my peom topics have a tendency to be a bit edgy.

Nice poem, man. I finally had a fit when I found out my friends supported McCain only because he was "conservative." The most embarrassing thing he has said was: "I'm ashamed of my beliefs."

Don't ask me for evidence. I have none, but I heard him with my two own ears. That's enough for me.

What?? Someone said "poetry shouldn't be about politics." Most ridiculous thing I've heard all day.

Poetry, art, literature since THE BEGINNING OF TIME have been about political oppression and hardship. You could argue that anything BUT political/moral poetry has no weight.

I'm hoping not to get too off topic:
He killed thousands of innocents, and many others that did the same went back to Vietnam to apologize, he did nothing of the sort.
First off: He did NOT kill thousands of innocents.. It was a time of war, and he killed the communist enemy. You shouldn't distort the facts..

Poetry, art, literature since THE BEGINNING OF TIME have been about political oppression and hardship.
Actually, the first paintings were cave drawings.. I don't think caveman had too sophisticated of a political system.. Can you show me some backing to your hypothesis? (Maybe some spread sheets, or graphs.. Make it fancy..)

I think you took the beginning of time statement too literally. It is true though, politics features heavily in art and literature, and who are you to say it shouldn't?

Very nice poem, great flow.

Also at the person saying he fought for our freedom, if you really think Vietnam was a justified war I just have to laugh. We Americans, with our typical arrogance went into Vietnam to try to restore a corrupt government. The majority of the Vietnamese people wanted to embrace Communism. You really shouldn't defend McCain's political career on the basis that he "defended our freedom".
