Another debate at hand! This time the question is: What is your opinion regarding gay marriage? Let's take U.S. as an example for the questions below. Feel free to refer to other countries in you posts if you wish.

Just a few question to direct your post: Should gay marriage be allowed? If so, should it be treated exactly like opposite-sex marriage? How about Civil Unions? Should same-sex unions/weddings be international (thus recognized) or can a country over rule them?

Let's have some constructive comments here!

Tolerance is not what homosexual activists are seeking. They are demanding that society elevate homosexuality to the moral level of marriage. When they bring the law into it, they are no longer just minding their own business but imposing it on every single citizen.

If you are a devout Christian, Jew or Muslim, or merely someone who believes homosexuality is immoral and harmful, and the law declares homosexuality a protected status, then your personal beliefs are now outside civil law.

Activists say homosexuality is just like skin color. But there are thousands of former homosexuals, but no former blacks or Hispanics.

I'm all for it, to each their own. For the people that don't agree with it, I don't see why. It's not like it really effects them.
Love is love, and as long as both are human ( sorry, no animals kthx ), I don't see any problems with it.

I have no real problem wth it, but only as long as they don't parade it around. That is to say, if they act like every other Average Joe instead of parading the fact then I don't care.
I only say that because I have known people to think they deserve special treatment because of their sexual orientation.

Having said that, I believe in personal freedom and privacy so in principal I have to be all for it

I wonder why there are gay/lesbian people. In fact it is a pretty big disatvantage since you can't have children (or only one part can have the child). So if darwins evolution theory is true they would die off, wouldn't they?

That's if being homosexual is a genetic trait, which as far as I know isn't known yet.

And also a lot of homosexual people do have children since they don't "come out" till after they already have kids.

I feel no problem to it, Really if it offends you, you have to get over it. In Democracy you are going to get offended, that is just how it works people.

The main disagreement it has that it insults your religious rights, but in the process of making it illegal your infringing on someone else rights.

Well homosexual behavior is found in mammals and birds (most of the time, if it occurs, though I have heard frogs doing some weird things to). Its rare, but scientist do point out it could be mentally, or a physical mutation (different level of hormones, etc.) But besides that nothing else is really known Oo

Again, just shaking things a bit, what said in this post doesn't reflect my opinions.

I think that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. Homosexuals are banned by the church, a gay marriage is an insult to my religion! What's wrong with civil unite? It doesn't offend my religion (by accepting Homosexuals) but still allows them to have equal rights!

In other words, some say that gay marriage is offensive to Christianity as wedding are a religious thing and Christianity (or at least some streams in it) doesn't accept Homosexuals. They say civil unions should be same as weddings only not religious.

Well, the book those people pray to is written by humans and not by their God. If their God really is so great and good he should be able to love everyone, and if there's still people he doesn't love, they shouldn't even exist, should they? Whoever believes this is obviously offending the Gays for not letting them have the same rights as him/her. In a proper democracy you have to compromise, make changes so it will be the best for everyone. Is their belief really threatened if gays can marry eachother?

If some religion is against gay marriage, I am against the religion. Really. How does it affect the religion, if there's a married gay couple?
Religion is only made by people, but gayism is something more spiritual .

I agree. They tell you to accept people as they are, and be forgiving, but they don't' allow homosexuality. I have a problem with them telling you to forgive rapists, murders and the such, but hate gays. It's wrong.

This is utter bullshit. I go to a christian church, and we accept gay marriage. Our priests can't currently officiate at a gay marriage, but that is changing.

I support gay marriage. It's really no different from heterosexual marriage. It's two people coming together to share mutual love and commitment to eachother(At least, that's what it's supposed to be). It makes no difference if the two coming together are a male and a female, two males, or two females.

If God really didn't want gay marriages, he could do something about it. Why did he even create gays? No I am not waiting you to answer these questions, because it's pretty off-topic, and I do not want to get this thread closed.

But they should back-off of people who are not gay...

Also, the Church has always been absolute.
I mean, to believe also means to restrict.
If there were just some religion that doesn't demand obedience... That would truly be an enlightend Religion, since you are fee to stay yourself and to be free of any kind of Bonds.
