Discussion You want this (NUON Official SDK, NUON schematics, NUON manuals and more)

It would be really, really helpful having a link on https://www.nuon-dome.com/download.html to this post. I spent a bit of time trying to find it again, and I knew what I was looking for! lol

    what is kprintf?

Starting to look at Nuon dev stuff again, I would like to get printf working, to get a log of output. Searching on Discord: cubanismo: I'm not aware of a printf-debug mechanism in Nuance. cubanismo: Right now you can use DebugWS() I believe to write stuff onto the screen. Here is what I've...

Yaroze Wrapper tool from Dragon Shadow

Hey man, thanks for the reply, I hope you're well. That's fair and understandable that your wrapper doesn't do tilemaps or 3D, Sprites with scaling and rotation, input and SFX is enough to port a few more NY games to Nuon, and it might create more interest and games to Nuon. I just got stuck...

Yaroze Wrapper tool from Dragon Shadow

kinda, but without the game features, which probably isn't what we would call a game engine today :D I dont think there are many game engines for older, pre PS2 consoles, as we know them today. The abstract layer handles primitives like render_rect, render_text, play_soundfx...

Yaroze Wrapper tool from Dragon Shadow

They're too completely different systems and communities... and I dont know when the full wrapper will be released. Alternatively, you can build a very simple 3D/2D/audio/input abstraction layer, and then it can be ported anywhere... and I would recommend this regardless, it's easier to dev on...

Yaroze Wrapper tool from Dragon Shadow

Yes, it's only one way, weekly batch to the Newsgroup/usenet, it isn't that popular, and it's mostly spam posts (and a lot of warez hosting :/ ) these days unfortunately, like IRC, it's still a great "social" platform. LOL, That sounds like Sony's marketing... the copy protection stuff, but it...

Yaroze Wrapper tool from Dragon Shadow

A 2D game, yes... I looked over it last year, unfortunately it's not complete as it is (and, i'm not smart enough to figure out the missing parts). Here is what I wrote back then. https://www.thehelper.net/threads/where-to-buy-nuon-games-demos-discs.162145/#post-1395569 I don't recall seeing...

Untold NUON Tales: Native II…or is it Feuerland?

Ah, that's the same one has https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/06/before-the-ps2-nuon-famously-tried-and-failed-to-combine-dvd-and-game-consoles I guess that's where they got it from :D

Untold NUON Tales: Native II…or is it Feuerland?

Thanks for that @V-SNES :) I thought the SDK being officially made public and VMLabs IP being sold twice, that for game dev's it was ancient history... I thought it might have been something like BIOS calls or private low level API calls. I guess their solution involves direct hardware access...

Apparently Discord is capturing data to train AI, it's opt in by default so it has to be turned off manually. FYI:

Untold NUON Tales: Native II…or is it Feuerland?

Re: "And we managed to isolate the MPEG code out of the bloated video presentation layer, something VM Labs considered being impossible." That's a shame, it seems like a trivial thing for a DVD player :/ @V-SNES If you're still in contact with them, maybe ask them, in the spirit of Nuon...

Untold NUON Tales: Native II…or is it Feuerland?

Great interview! I read it twice :) It's great of them to do interviews and share the pitch :) Multicore programming is hard in modern languages, to do it in assembly is hardcore! so much respect to them! But, that's what makes Nuon such a freak, the beautiful software rendering... in a DVD...

Big News on NUON Controller Development

Very exciting :) By any chance will your adapter help with software development in the near future? I mean, if I get a FTDI (serial to USB) and connect it to your adapter, would it be possible to send files to RAM, remote execute and getting TTY output? I'm not a pro, but cubanismo mention...
