SC2 is nice, but a single fact is disappointing.

No CHANNELS!

I like it though, just got it now, amazing graphics, love the interface, it makes Warcraft seem like it was made 50 years ago. I still like Warcraft more, it has a hero system.

Wrong...

Channels?
Scripting?
Intuitiveness?
Satisfaction when creating something in the editor?

I give you one thing, it DOES have people with the same name and different "identifiers" which is bull crap.

Channels? Thats the new battle.net not Sc2.

And where do you get the no Satisfaction when creating something in the editor?

When you made something in Warcraft III's editor, you got a feeling of satisfaction because you know that you put hard work into it. When I look at the Starcraft II editor, I feel like they're trying to limit us. Not only that, they say it's "easier" to make things, when in reality, they're making everything counter-intuitive.

I find more satisfaction scripting in JASS than I do trying to butt fuck myself screwing around with the SC2 GUI.

I would say that I am the complete opposite. I managed to figure out how to create my own GUI Actions that will add an event to a trigger. Being able to work this out myself gave me a fair amount of satisfaction.

As far as making things easier, it is easier to make complicated things, and harder to make simpler things. The whole trick is getting to know your way around with the data editor so that you know what needs to be done in order to achieve your goal.

I actually like the SC2 GUI. I find it just tends to be cleaner and easier to get the hang of more quickly. The fact that it is a scripting language doesn't bother me (I can already program is several different languages). It is more the fact that I don't have to bother learning all these natives that I will most likely forget in a couple of months.

Mind if I join the discussion ? Well, to be honest the starcraft II GUI is better, i haven't really played with it too much, but it is cool and easier.

The object editor is what blizzard have put hard work into. It is hell hard to make simple things, but the possibilities are infinite. I saw some object editor spells that in order to be in wc3, they'd have to use a lot of systems libraries and they'd lag and a lot of experience from the coder.

While here, this is the data editor. Quite frankly I was really pissed at the beginning. I still am, everything is so.... unlogical... but is it powerful ? Indeed it is.

Hmmm, can somebody explain to me how it works right now? I don't have SC2 but I'm curious.

explain how what works?

Veterancy, hmm I see, but I doubt it allows the selection and level-ing up of abilities?

No. This is Starcraft, having heroes would NOT fit. Besides, they have heroes in the campaign and they have really powerful abilities that can be even more effective than some of the Warcraft 3 level 10 hero abilities.

EDIT: And also, they announced like 1 month ago that chat rooms and cross-region play would be implemented within 60 days of the release. Just sit tight and wait until that time comes.

Yes, I know it wouldn't fit, but I was hoping we could make a unit that gains higher Veterancy gain a special ability when it reaches max veterancy? I was trying to work it out on editor but I'l still noob at it.

Oh they said that? Oh okay, I'm happy now, I can wait, I just thought there would never be channels. :p

People usually give false information to others because, well apart from being trolls and whiners, they are misinformed. There are "rumours" that Blizzard will never release more features for Battle.net 2.0 (which, by the way, is still a work in progress and will get better with every game and patch). Of course it's not going to have all the features straight away, but it will, at one stage, be better than Battle.net 1.0.

The chat system without channels.

Basically you can only talk to people that you have on your friends list or you meet in a game at the moment, but you can also create "parties" with players who are not friends and it can get up to 4 people in one party. So right now we can only talk with up to 4 people in one window, but you can open up plenty of windows with other friends while having a party chat. It's not all that bad, it just feels a little lonely without having a good amount of friends. I'm not saying Battle.net 2.0 would be better without chat channels, but right now it's not too much of a concern since I have a ton of friends that I can talk to from my friends list and really, we are here to play a game, right? Not socialize?

But that's pretty cool the party thing, I tried it out with my friends, and lol, it allows facebook connection.

Well sometimes I just talk with a friend while I play the game so I guess it gets boring when people in a room refuse to talk.

Another cool feature is you can talk to your friends while playing the Campaign or even open up a chat window or your friends list while in a match. Pretty nice stuff.

Oh yeah, I know that, that's why I think it's cool that I can be talking to my friend as he plays the campaign. I had to pre-order for him so he says he wants to play the campaign first and I'll spoil everything for him cause he didn't even pick up the game. So now I have two SC2, one collectors and one normal one.

I really love warcraft3 because I can do ANY spell I want using just GUI!

I dont know starcraft, but people are saying it makes things takes more time to be created, well, time is preciosus for me, If I have to lose 1 hour to create a spell in SC2 and just 30 minutes to make the same spell in warcraft, well, Im going to stay in WC3 until all these damn bugs are fixed...

I'd like to see you make a spell that can reverse time for all units for a set amount of time per level. Oh, and this goes for construction etc. Try to make it lagless.

Wait.... Can't do it....

It only takes more time until you get used to working with SC2.

That doesn't change the fact that I prefer extracting my MapScript.galaxy and editing it outside of the editor though... I also find working with actors aggravating. Also, many times if something doesn't work, you have to refresh the editor window...

Anything you can do or make in wc3 you can do in sc2.. Only far FAR more..

Abilities, Attributes, everything is far more flexible, and you can link anything to anything. Unlike Wc3.

Unless you used triggers, Int only really affected mana, regen, and all that stuff. in Sc2, you can make your OWN attributes, and have them linked to ANYTHING.

ANYTHING you can make in wc3 you can make in Sc2. Difference is Wc3 has a very simple editor with limited options, Sc2s is lot more complicated and a tad messy, but the options are infinite.
