The Finite Struggle
By Tyelor, aka Fire-Wolf

All of us we simply try to be
While we all float on infinite seas
We try to comprehend what we see.
But really we are mere bees.

Ignorant to the world beyond
Trying to carve our way along
We inch forward out of our pond
Only to shrivel as ashes in a bong.

The world we think we know
Is beyond our comprehension.
We are but a flake of snow
While we near evaporation.

We live to see our crease.
We fear life and its horrors.
We die to rest in peace.
We fear death and its borders.

To live in constant fear
Is to not live at all.
Hold on to those who are dear
So as not to fall.

In an infinite sea,
How easy it is to be
Lost looking to see,
That you can't find me.

We are all finite beings,
Born only to be washed away.
We struggle to find meanings,
But we are limited to our day.

And so it is that we live on,
And carve our names into the earth
Only to be forgotten by dawn,
As we are logs fueling our own hearth.

Certainly gloomy enough for my tastes. It sounds like the thoughts of someone who feels completely powerless to do anything, and has finally realised the full extent of their mortality. Yet somehow there's a lesson to be learned in all the depressing thoughts. The comparison of the "infinite sea" to us "finite beings" and the repeated references to self-destruction by fire bring about a sense of apocalyptic thought as well.

Kaerf, yeah the big comparison was humans to the world. But I also believe humans are leading to their own destruction, and I did show that aswell.

Ninva, I really like that quote. I haven't heard it before. I think love is the one thing I can always look forward to.

Yeah I agree its very dark and gloomy. I find it hard to make a happy poem, but perhaps its merely because my thoughts tend to be gloomy. I try not to, and always try to see the brighter side of things, but my poetry is my thoughts on paper.

Surprised you're so depressed if you're smoking all the time. If that's really the way you feel, perhaps you should consider stopping? If you're not happy when you're triggering your brain's cannabinoid receptors to pump copious amounts of dopamine into your system, then you don't needa be smoking. It will just make things worse for you when you can't catch that buzz, and will lead to a downward spiral. Your best bet would be to find a natural, low-cost activity that stimulates you in a similar way, and to practice that, instead, or if you really need to then seek psychiactric help.

Now, if you're not actually depressed and gloomy, then you can go ahead and ignore all that. But you should just be careful with drugs, ya know? Even weed can fuck with your brain-piece for some people.

Its not so much that I'm depressed, rather than just down. I've just been really confused lately and I am trying to make sence out of life. I am definitely not sad or gloomy when I inhale and exhale the herb. But instead I get many ideas all at once and I have to sort through them. I'm not a sad person, but I understand where you are coming from. Weed can actually speed up pschitsophrenia(I don't know how to spell it, the behavior disorder in which you are paranoid and hallucinate) in those who already have it mildly. But I appriciate your support a lot.

Schizophrenia?

  • Rather than sort through your ideas, it might be better to put them down as they appear. You can always analyse them later.
  • Catharsis is always a good way to output your emotions, joyful or depressed. It's definitely better than letting all that emotion pile up, then burst out uncontrollably.
  • If you can't write happy, don't. Nobody likes a false creation.

It's much easier to have a mess and and then clean it, than to have it already cleaned and mess it up the same way.

That's the one. I like this idea, rather than over think things, I should leave them in case I need them later. So as to not have a clouded mind. I don't understand the use of catharsis, but I agree. Putting my emotions on paper really does help me release feeling inside. Even after this I feel more at peace. As for the last piece of advice, some of the best pieces of poetry and prose are gloomy and unhappy. Your right though, "Nobody likes a false creation." Writing should come from the heart.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
