I am superbly delighted to have won an N501 in almost top shape on Ebay for under $20. I remember the Nuon equipped DVD players from years ago through video game magazines and word of mouth, but i had never actually seen one until now. The player came with a remote control and nothing else, I had to win a couple of auctions for a Logitech pad and suprisingly an original Samsung pad which i won just because I felt for the sake of completement the Nuon deserved to have the original pad along with it. The player already came with the latest firmware installed and everything worked perfectly out of the box, not the original retail box of course lol. Long before i got the Nuon I had saved on my computer 4 game ISO's that i downloaded through a torrent website. I was surprised to have them working perfectly without any hiccups on the Nuon. I am also very impressed with Merlin Racing and Tempest, both these games are superb. I tell ya I get a big thrill out of seeing what looks to be your standard DVD player play video games with a rather modern looking video game controller, it's impressive. Moreover, the games look to be just about on-par with first or even second generation Playstation 1 games. The Nuon could have been a contender. Anyhow my REAL purpose for posting on Nuon-Dome (wich i been coming to anonimously for the past 2 months) is to find out how can one get a hold of Nuon released games, Nuon prototypes and even unreleased games if they somehow happened to have been leaked. Ive been able to get a hold of 2 Original Nuon games at prices i feel I can afford. However, everytime I see a Nuon game for sale it has some outstanding price-tag which is probably very well deserved due to their uncommon status, I of course cant possibly afford to get a hold of them. I am very surprised that there is seemingly only about 3 Nuon releated torrents around the internet. I figured with with a community as large as this one, someone has got to have ripped the entire Nuon collection into ISO files for download. I know this is an incredibly leechous request but blasted im desperate lol. ISO collections for various defunct video game systems are available if one searches hard enough. Ive seen Philips CD-I, Amiga CD32, Atari Jaguar CD, 3DO, Sega CD, Saturn, TurboDUO and beleive it or not I once even saw a torrent with a collection of ISO's for the Memorex VIS system, one wich I am sure that probably less than half of us have even heard of. So, Im starting to think that the Nuon must have had about the impact of a 1ft rock crashing to earth from space (no impact at all) on the video game industry. So hey if anyone out there knows anything at all about why Nuon games are hard to find :banghead: or even where to find then please by all means reply. Ralph.

The only thing I can help you with is a link to the NUON-Dome Homebrew software downloads

http://www.nuon-dome.com/download.html

I personally do not support ISO's (or any copies of) of commercial games even for dead systems so I will not be able to help you there.

I respect that. No forum administrator supports ISO's for obvious legal reasons. The Nuon homebrews are phenomenal and ive already taken advantage of those :). Honestly, with no bad intent whatsoever and minimal rudeness, what exactly do you mean by not supporting ISO's? Do you mean that people that have these games for defunct systems should not EVER share them with anyone else? even if they are nowhere to be found? Do you mean that unless you bought these games back when they debuted (even back then they were hard to find) you should never get your hands on them and your just out of luck for lack of a better term? Is it because this system has a few games that people pay upwards to $100 for and if there were ISO's the values would go down? Let me ask you a question, say you wanted to play DraculaX on an original TurboDuo system and you couldnt or you just dont want to fork over around $200-300 for the original CD does that mean that your just out of luck, even with today's technologies? You dont have to agree with me but you have to understand that before Ebay, Amazon and a few other ecommerce websites there was no other way for people to get a hold of stuff unless they scoured the country for flea markets and such. INfact alot of people trashed their stuff plain and simple because they couldnt bump into people that would pay them anything for it so hence deemed their items worthless. Now all that seemingly worthless junk happens to be worth some money and righfully so. I beleive ISO's are a good thing, they preserve digital media presumably ALOT longer than the format it was originaly intended for.

Good question. Officially TheHelper.net will not host that material on our server. Additionally I will not personally provide links to that material. It is up to K3V whether or not he wants to allow link to torrents or allow links to stuff off the server. In other words I will not officially put an ISO on the server or put out a link to a torrent or an ISO. It is up to K3V whether or not he wants to allow links to allow LINKS to that material and the last time this was brought up his answer was no.

I'de love to enjoy that game to the fullest. However, I find that there is a slight lag when i move the ship around to shoot and it's hard for me to zone in on incoming enemies to shoot em down. In other words i have to HOLD a direction of the analog pad to get somewhere rather than just tapping the directional pad around to get where i need to be, maybe it's just me but i doubt this is how the game is meant to control. Aside from that it's gotta be one of the best tempest games ever. I have the Jaguar version somewhere and i dont remember having this problem. On another note i did find a small pack of nuon games somewhere including a IS demo. Later im gonna try and make a small compilation cd using the bootloader i found out about on this website just to see if it will work with full cd images. until then..

I have only ever played it on jaguar and nuon. I have never played it with a rotary controller so I don't know how that controller fees. Maybe its best that I don't know. Is t3k compatable with the analog controller on a stealth or Logitech?

Hi Xentorians,

Hope you enjoy your N-501 NUON player. My N-501 is in my kitchen disconnected right now. I'm currently downloading the NUON homebrew games & NUON SDK. Gonna hook up my N-501 again (in the next couple of days), it's been disconnected for a couple of years.

I loved the NUON homebrew games when I played them several years ago & being that NUON is an open system, makes it a good system for homebrew. It's just that it never took off. This system, if it got into cheap DVD players would be good for families who want a video game system but can't afford the prices of the new systems, I should know how expensive game systems are right now, I have an XBOX 360 along with a PS2, NES, computer and my old N-501.

I don't have any of the NUON games, I sold them off several years ago. But i'm gonna hook NUON system up to my 50" Samsung DLP HDTV in the next couple of days.

I gave my old Samsung N-2000 to my grandfather several years ago but with the authentication program found, it means that I can burn the NUON Homebrew games for my grandfather. He doesn't play games but his 47 year old girlfriend has a son who loves games, so her son can be able to enjoy the NUON games.

Thx you Eugene
Yes, Ive been enjoying the 501 player, ive since tried to win a couple of other nuon lots on Ebay but to no avail. Yeah, the games off the Dome's download section are quite enjoyable, I though they were neat enough to actually buy an official games & demos cd. I doubt the boy will have much fun messing with a Nuon. Nuon players are fetching quite a bit these days, you should grab it from your grandpa, sell it, buy the boy an old XBOX, mod it for him, make him a few emulator cd's and he'll never look back. Plus, your grandpa can use it as a dvd player too.
