Warcraft 3 Fatal Error

My warcraft 3 keeps experiencing problems on startup

The instruction at '0x6F0CDB75' referenced memory at '0x00000000'.
The memory could not be 'read'.

I'm running 32 bit vista on my laptop
directx 10
GeForce 8800M GTS

I've tried installing and reinstalling a billion times and nothing!
I've also tried manually installing the patches for the game and also nothing...

Also, when i startup warcraft 3 my screen turns black and makes an error sound and goes back to my desktop. The desktop light contrast goes all whack and the only way to fix it is to restart my comp.

I've been trying to resolve this problem for a while
and your help would be much appreciated

It's not just RAM, i've seen a few cases of viruses/malware/spyware/adware cause this.


Dude, get Spybot S&D and do a scan. Get Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and do a scan.
And then, once you're done, go clean up some crap on your computer by using the Disk Cleanup.

Missing an antivirus. Try Avast.
What's your current anti-sh^t programs?

i have

I have 3gb ram and my current anti sh$t programs are trendmicro and spyware webroot , i also use hijackthis

I think it may have something to do with Vista.

Did wc3 ever work?

~ Disable Aero before playing any 3D games

~ Go into the properties for the .exe file for the game -> Compatibility tab -> run the game in XP compatibility mode

Do you *actually* have 3gb ram or do you have 4gb and its only detecting 3gb ?
