Do you mean like placing the Black stuff, which is shadow on the map?
If you can't see it, then try open the Editor go to the edge of the map, and Press "S" Twice. You will see the Black stuff, come and go. Is it like that?
Because then you can look in the Terrain Palette and then pick invert...

Make triggers to check if the Hero got the item and if its ranged. If so apply said stats or whatsoever so that the ranged hero can still use the Melee items perhaps? x_x
Can't you change the items to be ranged-useable also?
Then you just need to tweak said items so that both Ranged and Melee, would benefit of them I guess <.<
But...if you are really gonna make a 1000 Levels for each of the 30 skills, then I think you should reduce it to like 500 or something, because else yes...I think the loadtime might be long, and I also think the game might lack some when it handles this :b
I didn't say you should pick those attacks and you only said those wouldn't really work...an autocast spell could also be, forexample Bloodlust or Heal, or something else, like Incenerate as Wolfie pointed out -_-'
What about already destroyed buildings, dead humans and things alike? I assume the Zombies already have been loose and this is the final front against them, before they enter some critical point, and the human race (or whatever race) is doomed :b
