The time has finally come. I've been working on this story on and off since December 2022, going through seemingly endless leads and a number of revisions. I present to you Untold NUON Tales: Welcome to Tromaville.
This thread is long overdue for an update. To start, it’s unfortunate that I was unable to release more stories after the initial two this year. Writing stories that I could consider complete has been quite a challenge for a number of reasons. Even though it has been a while since I last...
"For the Atari/C64 Video Game Music Player by Tim Prezzano (guy that made Ambient Monsters), does it include copyrighted music?"
Found the list of music on it from its Nuon Dome page (not sure how I didn't see it sooner). Looks like the answer is yes.
I think another tutorial that would be good to do is how to burn a game to a disc to test on original hardware. Not sure how helpful that'd be for devs but it would be helpful for people who want to try out homebrew on their Nuon. Also, should a dev want help from the community to beta test...
It appears to have a lot of the same games as well as additional ones like Yaroze Classics, Sheshell's Sea Adventure, and KillMinds. If I'm not mistaken, it's missing Ambient Monsters and some demos like the Raytrace demo.
Five of the seven video blogs are on YouTube (albeit #5 Robot Ron and #7 - Bezier Fun are unlisted but accessible from his website). The two missing are #1 and #6 Dev System. Like you said though, it would be great to have them all backed up on YouTube.
Yeah, that had definitely caused quite a bit of confusion for people. While this was already my understanding, it's not something that is widely known, relatively speaking of course. Glad you finally got your copy!
Indeed, it is from 2014. What he was specifically looking for was this: https://www.nuon-dome.com/demos/nuongd.html. It was essentially a Nuon homebrew compilation disc that was released back in 2005. It's been out of print for quite some time now.
Wow, you picked up a nice collection! Currently I'm missing The Next Tetris, Space Invaders XL, and Crayon Shin Chan. I recently completed my Nuon-enhanced DVD collection though! With regards to the missing Merlin Racing disc, have you checked to see if it's in any of the Nuon players?
I passed on your question to Marc Rosocha @mgarcia. Here is his answer:
"That's unfortunately impossible for a number of reasons that I don't even want to discuss due to their complexity. Any such information would have to come from the current IP owner STM, or be found within leaked VM Labs...
My apologies. A reminder that the release of my stories will be inconsistent as mentioned in the original post of this thread. That being said, I mentioned a couple times somewhere else a couple months ago that I had around four projects that were far along. Two of those have had to be put on...
From my understanding, at least some of it's contents has been uploaded to NUON-Dome like the prototype controller pictures though I'm not sure at this point as to how much of the other contents were uploaded. Admittedly, I originally assumed that all its contents were on there, but considering...
Update: The second entry of Untold NUON Tales has been posted! I present to you Untold NUON Tales: Native II…or is it Feuerland?: https://www.thehelper.net/threads/untold-nuon-tales-native-ii…or-is-it-feuerland.178975/
The link to it has been added to the original post in this thread.
I’d like to give a huge thanks to Johannes and Marc. This story could not have been possible without either of them as it was an overall big team effort. Between having the pitch document found and restored, sharing new mock-up screen shots, and getting to chat with some amazing people, it’s...
On May 27, 1997, German studio Duranik released a game demo online called Native for the Atari Jaguar. Native was a futuristic spaceship side scrolling shoot ‘em up, containing a single level with no audio (gameplay can be found below). But who is Duranik one might ask? Duranik was run by two...
Interesting! I have not seen those pictures before. If we have them, they would likely be here: https://www.nuon-dome.com/media.html
As for the info, I am familiar with all of it except for the part that says VM Labs had announced that they sent out more than 100 development kits. I don't...
