2011 Poetry Contest - January [Loss] - Wiseman_2
Welcome to the February, 2011 Poetry Contest of TheHelper.net!
Topic
This month's topic, chosen by our previous winner Wiseman_2, is Anger! All entries will have three weeks to think on this topic, write their poem according to the rules below and post it for judging that will occur in the last week of the month!
Judging & Judges
Like the last contest, there will be one sole judge; Myself. The judging will work off of an average of five categories;
Clarity - How easy to understand is your poem? If it's too complex or complicated, you will lose points.
Flow - Read your poem out loud. Does it pause in unusual places? Does it sound strange or choppy?
Spelling/Grammar - Through some means or another, you're putting a poem online. Please take the time to spellcheck your work, this is a silly thing to lose points for.
Focus - Keep true to the topic and don't wander off to other things.
Language - Words like "bad", "sad" are considered "younger" words, words used by children. Please think as you write to be a bit more expressive with our English language!
Each category will be scored on a scale of 1 [worst] to 5 [best] The categories will be added up and divided by five, giving us the average of all 5 scores. This is your Overall Score which will determine your standing. The poem that receives the highest Overall Score wins!
Please remember winners receive the privilege of picking our topic for the March, 2011 Poetry Contest!
Deadline & Reward
All entries must be submitted by February 21, 2011. Then, I will judge the entries by the following Monday, February 28, 2011. The next contest will start immediately, as soon as the winner picks a topic.
I +rep all entries and I'm sure your other participants will reward you as well for hard work and a job well done. Aside from Rep, a bit of fame in the WC and the chance to pick the next contest's topic, that's all the reward you get!
Welcome to the February 2011 Poetry Contest and Good Luck!
