About

I am fairly new to 3ds Max and model editing in general.

I am trying to create a model, use the slate material editor to make textures for the model.
Then export the model and the texture to a .fbx. I am geting in error. (see error section below)

(3ds max is free to students)

What I Did

I created a track for a game a i am working on in xna.
It consist of 10 box's And 2 textures. (see Rail Track)
I am using Slate Material Editor.

Rail Track.PNG

Error (When trying to export)

"Warning: Texture export incompatibility.

The following maps are only supported by 3ds Max; they will not be recognized by other applications. To learn how to convert them so they will be compatible with other applications, see the Render Map Dialog topic in the 3ds Max documentation.
-Map #4"

What I Found

Render Map Dialog topic in the 3ds Max documentation:

What I Tired to do to fix the issue

- I Went to Map # 4

Slate Material Editor.PNG

- Render Map

Render Map.PNG
- Press Render

Renderd Map.PNG

- Save Image As Wood.png

I continue to get the same error.
I added Wood.png to my xna project with the model, but it doesnt seem to know its assoisted with it.

Nommaly if i have a fbx file, that requires texture it will give me a error missing file.

Solved.

When you render and save as wood.png. I was suppose to go back in and remove map # 4 and put in a bitmap of wood.png. so it ties in.

(You may close this thread unless you think it will be helpful for others (not likey))
