44x CD-ROM is slow!

I have a 44x CD-ROM i just installed and it takes a very long time to load starcraft with! I already looked up drivers for it, but the proper drivers are installed.
please help!

Its everything!
Need for speed, starcraft diablo, everything!
for starcraft it will say "Loading..." and it will continualy flash for up to 10 minuits.

Maybe the DMA channels are wrong?
dunno...
