this applies to more than just "custom games" cause its happening in every game type, including solo.. its a bnet issue, and there's a notice saying they are working on it.

I'll repeat what I said on hive.

The lagging out is a symptom of an even greater problem: Blizzard hosts everything.

I know why Blizzard hosts all of the melee games. I can understand why Blizzard would like to make sure nobody is playing premium maps locally or using custom servers. But they pulled it off miserably. The battle.net service should be a client to the host of each custom game that monitors the proceeds. They could even make the client be a requirement for the game to continue, but that would only require a periodic encrypted message to and fro, which doesn't really add any lag.

But they chose to host every damned game on the network. Obviously, this is going to cause a lot of problems for some people, since the reliability of the online play will be completely out of the players' control. In fact, almost every part of it will be out of the players'/host's control.

Combine this with the absolutely terrible custom game UI, and you've got yourself a nightmare.

Also to the Opening Post.

100% of all Games are unplayable to some people.

Seriously I want to move up gold not move down it without being able to at least defend myself.

I don't think we should worry, they'll fix it.

They could establish three battle.nets.. They got that much money! Comon, its blizz we're talking about!

Quite trivial though. Doesn't take much to roll down a few more servers. Hosting a SC2 game doesn't seem much more intensive than updating the game state for a WoW player.

in any case of real-time gameplay, low lags are highly desired.

Either way, given Blizz is all too control-keen on hosting about every single multiplayer match themselves, I could actually expect them to make some investments in more and faster servers, given the huge earnings they are about to make. Gee, there should be one hell of a fibre-cabled high-performance server around every other corner to ensure premium-price-paying SC2 players low latencies and best possible multiplayer gaming. :D

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
