A cheat or just Min/Maxing?

Okay, me and a friend were looking at the Custom profile settings of the game and noticed 2 files included the Max Site Distance.

I'm not on any system currently that has BF installed so I will just give you a general idea. Basically 2 files in the custom profiles directory have site distance. I have my set at 100 in the game so both of them = 100. We changed the Site Distance to 200 in each of the two files and made them read only. Thus not allowing you to change any options listed in those files.

This took the "FOG" you see all around you away and could see planes coming in from a distance, and actually use the Binoculars(SP?) to sight in artillery.

This however did not seem to help in Sniping, at least not for me.

So is it a Cheat or a Min/Max? I'd like opinions, because I won't use what I don't consider a cheat.

ps - if you do this YES it can make the game choppy. you have to sacrifice texture res for performance.
 
I'd think they would set the value for a certain map. Like islands maps should have more fog than a desert, etc.

I wouldn't really go around doing this unless everybody else has it set because of some server default.

It CAN be an unfair advantage.

What Servers are you hitting? I'm mostly going after the Atlanta EA servers.

I like the improved viewing distance specifically for flying. The ground doesn't suddenly appear in front of you.

Strange i saw Wiev Distance not SiteDistance param.
bots can see me from everywhere
they even have collective mind telekinethical power
why i cant? What 1 bot knows, all bots know
Does anybody try look at desert island in the wake island in sector d?
 
well dice is gonna remove it in the next patch .. so i guess someone complained hehe
 
i informed them .. but tobe honest when i saw how many ppl used it i doubt it was my email who convinced them hehhee

game is much more fun now .

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

    The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.

    That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
