A Glitch in My Character

My Paladin i just started is really weird. I was doing cow runs and every game I tried to join or create said that my character was unable to go in because of Hardcore games or something. So now every time I try to access my paladin, he is invisible and his name is red with some weird symbols next to it. If someone knows what I'm talking about PLEASE reply to me!!!!!

What probably happened is that you created a Hardcore Character. Once those types of characters die, they cannot come back. It's a one-life only type of game. You character is dead for good.

Next time you create a character, notice the "Hardcore" box. Make sure you do not fill it if you don't wait to play hardcore.

Actually, this is caused by a server glitch. Characters will have their names changed to <name>XYZYD or something similar, levels will change (sometimes over 99, all the way to 255), nonHC will turn hardcore (usually dead, thus the invisible or black cloak), "Player not found" errors, missing items, missing skills, etc.
It's suspected to be caused by the duping exploits that cause server instability and the resulting server scans to delete the dupes. It happened last time the duping got bad like it did last week.
The only thing that can fix it is waiting it out.

I'm Having the same problem, I was in a game, enchanting people including myself, then got out real quick, and now I'm level 255 and can no longer play, wtf happened, and how are you gonna fix it so I get my character back with all the uniques, my account name is Unspoken_killer if you need that for any reason and my characters name is TrojanGirl

Not that I'm some kind of moderator here, but this is not an official Blizzard support site, it's a help forum, and the good people that frequent it isn't paid by Blizz to give support on their games. Just so that you now, noone here can restore your account, but they can help you understand what has happened and why it happened.

Now, for your question:

As Swilo said above. This is a server glitch. If you don't use any hacks or something (which I presume you don't), I would recommend you to:

a) sit back and relax. It will probably fix itself in a while.

b) email the blizzard support, and tell them what happened. Maybe you'll get a reply, maybe you won't.

I found out what was srong with my character. It turned out that my character was somehow switched over to the normal Dibalo II. All i had to do was convert my character to expansion again and all was fine =). Thanks anyway for your help...

Yeah, I figured out what causes it this time.
Last time it was lag, now it's the enchant spell. Apparently there's some bug which causes your character to get messed up if enchant is cast on it. Either sorceress spell or 2% Chance on Lava Gout Unique gloves.

Enchant

Use items as normal - just wait until enchant has worn off before leaving a game. Take a trip through a way point - if you land and there is a swirl of flame around your char - don't leave the game. Keep on trying til it's gone. My level 90 sorc became HC and dead with it - it wears off in time if you leave the game for about 15 minutes or so.

My character has been this way for hours. I played about 6-7 hours ago and the server froze and kicked me off. When I got back on, my lvl 44 regular character was a lvl 97 hc character. I cannot create or join games with this character either. Should it last this long? I had some nice stuff and I really do not feel like starting another character. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Solution for expansion characters : highlight the bugged character and click convert to expansion, tell it yes to the warning. You should then get a "could not connect to server" error, and your character will be back to normal. I've done this dozens of times and it's worked flawlessly each and every time.
Possible solution for D2 classic characters : Create a new character on the account, and then delete the new character. This should refresh the character list and restore the bugged character. I haven't tried this as my sorc was converted to expansion a few weeks ago.
