Long time since i've writen something in here... about August i thing...

i found out a secret in life...

we don't do something to reach a goal, for the goals matter, we do it for the road to the goal.

I played warcraft 3, to find something i couldnt do.

Finaly, Enfo's Team Survival (pretty old now..), used the most advanced and f***ed up triggers...

I tried to do them after... all the stuff, i finaly reached the goal to be able to create anything in the editor...

after that, i didnt play anymore... havent touched the game since.

maybe it got replaced by Macrimedia Flash MX's actionscript...

-is this the last goodbye?

hopefully not...

even if you don't want to make maps anymore, just come back and say hi once in a while.

What you really ought to do is take that mapmaking knowledge you have and put it to good use before you leave. You ought to write something up and submit it as a tutorial. We can use it as a base - anything - if you ever got help in this forum consider giving back a little before you call it quits. Something for you to consider.

What kind of tutorial?

The most obvios one could be arrays, but i think people know that by now, and there is probably lots of tutorials about it =/
(which i tbh didn't understand anything from in the start)

maybe i should just make an easy understanding of it, very easy!

it kinda helps alot if you know how to use arrays?

but come up with some ideas:) ill see what i can do to help man kind :D:D:D

yea u should make a tutorial for people that are not as good. people just starting map making. Ryokos tutorial is for people that have alrdy started and r alrdy pretty good. i have 4 friends that i want to start map making but i can't teach them it will take too long. and they keep calling asking for questions. for example i am making that lord of the rings map. a campaign style map that has all the battles. i have some friends that would like to be a part of it but we will have to see.

oh yeah, i forgot that i havent figured the gamecache thing yet:/

but i dont need it. no point in making singelplayer maps?

but ok:) ill start out making a idiot proof turtorial of variables, from what they are used to, to arrays:D

but... what should it look like?

flash movie?

but you see conan, even though i know how to use the arrays and variables, i dont get anything from it, makes no sense at all.

im making an idiot proof one thingy something:)

Yea they tke user submitted tutorals. I don't think they'll take a flash movie though.... I don't know you can try and see if they will.

We take sumissions, depending on quality and thoroughness.

We don't have any flash ones.

We are currently interested in stuff like this, petty stuff.

Additional common FAQ questions

Creating heroes (based on a nother hero, adding hero glow, etc.) which also would include Melee Heros (adding melee heroes to a race or nuetral tavern, and covering all the problems that exist)

I cant just accept anything though. We recieve stuff sometimes with poor english, things left out, bad formatting, etc.

How about I work on that Creating Heroes FAQ? That is, if you don't mind, Ryoko. I know it's his topic, but I might as well state it. And as far as I know, I use appropriate grammar and spelling...almost too annoying for these people to read >_>

So anyway, is it basically about copying and pasting heroes and sticking them in taverns? If you want me to, I can work on trying glow packs and changing the hero via gmax, but that'd make my tutorial all the longer and it'd make it take longer to write.

Lotta people ask how to make a unit a hero. So you'd start with Creating Heros. This of course the method of choosing an appropriate base hero, copying over the needed values. Then going further into the gamplay constants and trigger codes to restrict to 1 for not only a race, but for a nuetral hero. Then touching a little bit on hero levels, how to get them past five, hero abilities, etcetera. Adding glow to a non hero unit (via the attachment tutorial link) and summery on glow packs, things like that.

Alright.

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

    Sent a pm @The Helper
  • Stephen Stephen:
Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content
  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Also, anyone who is reading this and is sad - don't be, turn off the Internet, step away from the box - enjoy your life - there is so much more out there for you than there is here for you.
