A Home Networking Question

How do I find out if my PC has an 802.11b or Ethernet networking adapter? Also, what are they? I wanna get a home networking system. Also, what are some good home networking products? If you can answer any of the questions, thanks in advance.

The easiest way to find out if you have an Ethernet/NIC card would be to spin your case around and look for a jack similar in style to a phone jack that's wider. Alternatively, it will also be listed in the Device Manager.

What operating system are you using?

How many computers will be on your network? How do you connect to the Internet? Do you want a wireless network? What will the network mainly be used for?

802.11b is a wireless networking system operating in the 2.4GHz radio wave range.

There'll be two computers. I use dial-up with Qwest. I think I want to use a wireless network because I'm not too good with wires and the such. And we(me and my brother) will probaly use the network to swap files, play games, and so on.

I'd suggest just buying a crossover cable and two network cards&#151unless each computer is already equipped with NICs.

The crossover cable will allow you to directly connect each computer, without the hassle of a router or hub.
