A litlle help with events.

Hello, thanks to all of you who are helping me with the WE. Im trying to keep a track on the kills of a hero. But i dont know why, i cant use variables on events. Im trying to do something like when "unit dies", and i would like to set "unit" to a unit created on another trigger (and previously stored in a variable). I dont know why but the program doesnt let me use a variable on the event (it says something like not generated), and i created it .

Dying unit is A Hero

Actions:
Set herokills = herokills + 1

Be more elaborate with variables or conditions as is needed for your map.

Ok, thats a possible way, but i want the event to be "Creep dies" (it is an option of the editor) instead of having to check wether the unit who has died was the creep or not. Instead of when a unit dies, and if the unit who has died is a creep, i want the event which activates the trigger to be especific unit dies, but my problem is that the program tells that there's no variable generated when i have created one to store the creeps (i try to put a variavle in a event but i cant).

This variable you generated is likely not compatible with the "specific unit" variables. Specific units pertain to ones pre-placed on the map that you can reference and actually store in a variable, and aren't compatible with dynamic variables, which it sounds like you are trying to use. The game actually gives the unit variables automatic names, such as something like <gen>Castle_X001 or something along the lines of that

It's a lot easier if you use a generic unit clause rather than a specific unit clause for the checking of units dying.

Now i understand, the specific unit are those placed directly on the map. OK thank you very much. Another thing do you know how could i use the animation of a spell or ability an use it to add some effects to a trigger?

The reason you can't use variables in events is it only uses the value that the variable had when the event was added to the trigger. In every trigger you make the event is added before even the initialization trigger goes.

But if you use the Trigger - Add Event action, it'll use whatever value the variable has when the action is called.

You mean the actions in the Special Effect category?

Yea thats what i mean, add a especial effect to a trigger. For example when a hero enters a teleport gate, show an animation (which i want to chose). How could i do that?

speical effect- creat a specail affect at point <unit, location, doodad, ect> useing <your effect mass teleport, war stomp, black dragon missle>

Any special effect from a ability, buff, effect, missle weapon, or unit modle is there which allows some interseting things to be made.
