ANN ARBOR—Some people feel so "creeped out" that they would decline an organ or blood that came from a murderer or thief, according to a new University of Michigan study.

In addition, they express concern that their personality or behavior may change to become more like that of the donor, as a result of the donation.

Recipients prefer to get an organ or DNA transplant or blood transfusion from a donor whose personality or behavior matches theirs, said Meredith Meyer, the study's lead author and a research fellow in psychology. People think that people's behaviors and personalities are partly due to something hidden deep inside their blood or bodily organs, she said.

What surprised Meyer and colleagues were that the results from blood transfusions were just as strong as the results from heart transplants.

"Since blood transfusions are so common and relatively straightforward, we had expected people might think that they have very little effect," Meyer said.

If I die before I'm old and nasty, I'm hoping to donate my body to an organization that gives people the chance to eat people in a relatively ethical fashion.

Let them skeptical folk get phased out by their own stupidity. If a doctor clears an organ for a transplant, it's about as safe as it gets. No weird drugs or deficiencies in the organs to corrupt our body there.

I'd say if somebody declines a donated organ, cut them from the list. They should not be offered a second chance.
If you are little away from death you shouldnt be picky.

You know, you kind of remind me of a famous character from the tv show "red dwarf". He even had a similar name...

Eh whatever. But what? Just because, some people Just "find it creepy" that part of their body will be "inserted into someone else's!". and the other way around. You being a stupid human? Some are scared of dying in the operation. Are they stupid?

They are not scared of dying in the operation, what bs are you talking about? Thats not the topic of the article and has nothing to do with it.

They need a donated organ. They get a donated organ. They refuse to take the organ because of superstitious beliefs.
My opinion: Let them. If they refuse to take the donation, dont give them a new organ. Simple as that.

That's not BS at all. You can't Just "put in a organ" in your body, without operation?
Oh can you? Btw: You can always give second chance. Regardless of their beliefs, It's still a organ from a human. you know.
You think it's so easy?

Look, a new way to win a debate - throw out an argument so confusing, nonsensical and convoluted that there's no way to even respond.

Did you even read my post? What you say does not make any sense at all! (in the given context)

Thats so like every other debate we have.
One day you "might figure out" Why you and your girlfriend... have such debate. LOL

And again, "Regardless of their belief" Even if they refuse the organ. The organ is from a human! And how do you know.. It wouldn't behave a bit strange? Hmm Murder or not LOL

Yeah, that day was quite a few years ago: I just like to debate.

And again, "Regardless of their belief" Even if they refuse the organ. The organ is from a human!
It doesnt even make any sense?! Where is the context? What are you talking about? It is like you have been reading an entirely different thread then anybody else here!?
I do not understand what you are referring to. If this sentence was supposed to be an answer to anything I, or somebody else, said anywhere in this thread then maybe you should use a quote?

And how do you know.. It wouldn't behave a bit strange? Hmm Murder or not LOL
Hm... let me guess... BECAUSE ITS A FUCKING ORGAN!
It doesnt have a consciousness of its own. Its like a tool, just organic.
If it works, it works. There is no connection to how you feel or think.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
