A Portal Problem

In this map i have been making i have a unit with an ability that summons a portal, which should take it to a different part of the map.

To do this i began by making a new custom unit with Waygate as the base. I then changed the model file to the doodad, shimmering portal. I also changed the ground texture to none; the shadow texture to none; and the pathing map to Circle of Power. Other than its name no other changes.

Next i took the ability Summon Sea Elemental, and changed the unit it summoned to my portal.

To make it work i used this as my trigger:

Unit - A unit owned by Player 1 (Red) Finishes casting an ability
Conditions
(Ability being cast) Equal to Summon Portal
Actions
Neutral Building - Set (Summoned unit) destination to (Center of Vampire <gen>)
Neutral Building - Enable (Summoned unit)


When i use the ability it summons the portal, but it doesn't teleport my units.

Is there anything i did wrong? or Can you simply not creat a functioning waygate in game?

change your event to Unit - A unit Spawns a summoned unit
and then change your condition to (Unit-type of (Summoned unit)) Equal to <unit's type>

also you could do it without the waygate ability I believe.

just make it into Unit comes within xxx range of your portal, then teleport them using triggered teleports.

you could but it is already somewhat set up with waygate so may as well continue with that setup

btw you probably should use a temporary point variable for the destination and remove it at the end of the trigger
