Ability able to target fog of war.

As seen in the picture. I want to be able to target them crates there. But because it's in fog of war, the hero trys to get closer so he can see it before he'll cast.

Is there anyway around this?

EDIT: Ignore the insane stats the hero has, purely for testing purposes.

EDIT2: If i'm not clear, i'll upload a video to youtube showing exactly what i'm talking about. Including the bugs it causes.

If its possible change the base spell to something like blizzard or cone of fire. Those AoE spells usually fire off even when targeting areas in the fog.

you can create an observer ward close enough to gain vision as a simple work around

lol, dw about it, im about to hit 200 anyway, after that i dont think ill be super worried about rep >.<

and thats just a simple work around, there are more efficient triggers that could do it as well

      • Custom script: call RemoveLocation( udg_TempPoint[8] )
      • Animation - Change Unit_Hero's animation speed to 50.00% of its original speed

And because the object is in fog of war, the trigger is never ran ><

change the event to:
Trigger:
  • A unit is issued an order

idk whether it should be targeting a unit or point etc, but i know thats what you should have as the event

you have to check its order string (should be in the spell under object editor)

Same result, because the object is fogged out. The trigger never runs ><

I tested it everywhere else of course, where there was no fog of war, and the trigger ran as normal.

You could just use a dummy unit or something with very small vision (like 100 or 200) and create it on the crate location. That way, you'd be able to see it. Else, you can use a Vision Modifier via triggers.

Thanks guys, i've decided this is far too much hastle for what it's worth. I have an ability called blinding light whicg can give a reveal effect.

To close thread:

Press the edit button on any of your posts. Then press Go Advanced. From there, scroll all the way down. There should be a check box which says "Close this thread".
