Ability to get mana from a corpse.

I need a ability to give you a amount of mana by removing a corpse. I tried to base it off of a dark ritual but then I set it to targets allowed: corpse, and it wont do anything if I click on a corpse.

What is a good ability to base my new ability off of or how can I fix this to target a corpse?

Have you tried mana burn? and changing targets to dead or something for corpses?

Or, try the Skeleton Summoning Ability that the necromancers have. Do a trigger something like this:

Events: A unit begins casting an ability
Conditions: (ability being cast) Equal to (Skeleton thingy ability )
Actions: Kill (last created unit)
Set mana of (triggering unit) to (max mana?)

I'm scared that won't work. But it does have the right idea.

I think 'last created unit' refers to units created by triggers. No big deal. Actually, you can get by with a lighter trigger.

Base the ability off Raise Dead, but make the summon duration zero, or the number of summons zero, or something like that. If needed, you can make the summons custom units with flying, zero pathing size, the model of a pathing blocker (that is, no model at all) and locust, so they can't be selected.

Anyway, make the mana gain triggered.

Event:
unit finishes casting an ability

Condition:
Ability comparison: ability being cast = <eat corpse for mana>

Action:
set unit property: mana of triggering unit = arithmetic(mana of triggering unit + 100)

If you have any issues with the summons, add the action [remove unit group: (remove units of type (eatcorpseformana summons))]

That should work.

Good thinking to create such an ability. Original, I say.
