Adding an Actor to an Item?

How do you add an actor to a preexisting unit or item? This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to create a weapon that can lie on the ground until somebody picks it up, but creating an item doesn't give me the option of adding an actor.

Do I have to add an ability to it or something?

This is how it works.

Actors are NOT assigned to items.

If you want an instance of an item in your map you have to create a unit for it and set that units Stats - Item to <The Item of Your Choice>.

Then assign <The Actor of Your Choice> to that unit.

That's what I ended up doing wile I waited for a response :S. So items are completely useless then? Unless you're equipping them?

The item data type that can be assigned to a units Stats - Item is the only thing that can define that a unit is an item.

I believe that items are only useful as long as you want an equipped item to have an effect. A pawnable Unit can't give effects, but as long as I've understood you can still like pick up units and keep them in your inventory - just like an unit with an assigned item.
