Age of Empires II : Multiplayer ?

Hello everyone.

I got Age of Empires II for Christmas. It's a good strategy game, but the multiplayer access is so complicated ! I'm a guy that's used to Battle.net. It's better than MSN Gaming Zone crap. You actually look for games from Internet Explorer ! Are you kidding me ? What a silly way to design a mutiplayer zone. Battle.net is sooooo better. It's built-in the game for starters.

My question is, can anyone recommend me a good way to play Age of Empires II multiplayer mode ? Other wise, I'll just stick with single-player. What a hassle.

Battle.net is the best and the only place to play online. The rest is poorly designed.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

This is not a Diablo II forum. It's a general technical help forum.

(We revolve around Blizzard games, but we can help with other problems not related to Blizzard too.)

u drunk ??
the zone is super simple !
i used to play alot of crimson skies and midtown madness 2 there .
get an account damn easy hehehe

Wargasm,

I understand how to use it perfectly. It is simple, I'll give it that. I prefer Battle.net because it's built-in the game. I hate having to use Internet Browser to find a game and chat.

I hope someone can help me out. Otherwise, it's no big deal. Single Player is quite fun by itself.

You are asking if anyone knows how to redesign the way the MSN Gaming Zone works? :)

does the game let you play by manually typing in an IP address?

Gamespy might work for the game (dunno)

Although it could be argued that gamespy is more of a hassle

"does the game let you play by manually typing in an IP address ?"

Yes. Why do you ask ? Could I enter some gaming service via typing an IP address ?

No, I'm not asking if anyone knows how to redesign MSN Gaming Zone... I'm asking for alternatives. They are many out there. GameSpy seems better alwardy, you use a program that lets you look for Age of Empires games. Similar to Kali.net. I still prefer Battle.net... You guys gotta admit Battle.net is the best and hassle-free gaming service there is out there... I just don't like using Internet Explorer for my online gaming, that's all.

Anybody can help ?

The reason I ask is because games that support that are the kind that Gamespy can interface with

ya, b.net is the easiest to use

It won't be long before Microsoft makes you use Media Player or MSN Messenger or something to play on the Zone :) (heheh.... ummm I wouldn't be surprised actually)

ZONE used to be good.. but they went with the requirement of using .NET .. or they soon will be. Thats something that I plan to avoid.. so Multiplayer via Gamespy will prolly be the only way I do Multi unless at a LAN party.

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

    That sounds like an adventure.

400 users all online all looking at latest content
  • The Helper The Helper:
I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
