The NUON DVD players and games have been discontinued for a long time now. Most of the things you see on their are new, in-stock items. Occasionally you'll see a marketplace seller with a NUON item or two, but that's about it (but the prices are generally bloated and it's increasingly rare).
Especially for around $8.50 (shipped) and it was new and still in the plastic.
The popping surprised me a little. Either it was a quick port of their Atari Karts engine, or the Nuon struggles with 3D. I would guess it was a quick port, as Iron Soldier 3 appeared to have more polygons on screen.
It'll be good practice at least, I did a bunch of practice boards the last few weeks but that's a bit different than actual repair. It's pretty obvious what's going on with those, so it's not very hard to trace the leads, and they aren't designed with faults so
