I'm not exactly sure, why you're excited about crippled B2-stepping quad-cores being sold as shiny new products. What you're getting there is a CPU with the TLB bug and its fourth core deactivated because it is somehow defective or AMD wants to get rid of the few B2-stepping CPUs it could produce.

Yea, I think it's stupid as well.

The Tris aren't even properly priced compared to the Quads, I don't see why anyone would choose it over a Quad with only a ~$15-50 difference.

They have been doing that kind of stuff for years. 486SX vs DX etc. The bug the chips have only apply to certain situations. It is supposed to be bargain basement stuff I suppose and if you don't have a problem with a bug and you have a system that will benefit from 3 cores it would not be a bad option.
