when ur makin a map.. wat is the maximum amount of space for imported items can b? like.. wen b4 u import an item, how much space do u have and when u r importing items, how much can u have imported? i have heard u can only have 4megabytes max...

u can import as much as u want but should never go over 1mb because 56K download time would be very long

umm.. is 1000 kilo, 1 megbyte?? if so then i have 4,345 kilobytes, or 4megs and 345 kilo

ok.. i have 4,345 kilobytes and the map size says its 2.18 megabytes.. so is it compressing the files??

I dont know. But a compression with 2mb is a realy good one.

It is more likley that 4,345 kilobytes means 4 kilobytes and 345 bytes not 4 megabytes and 345 kilobytes.

That ofcourse depends on what you have imported. If you have imorted a few models and/or music it is more likle that it is 4 MB. If you only imorted one or a few icons 4 kb is more likley

ok. i have imported the Tassadar model, Siege Tank model, a couple icons from WOW, Sephiroth model, a sword model and spear model, nuke spell, Tassadar icon, Zeratul icon, a few dinosaur models, and i am hoping that i wil have room for the Tassadar sounds...

As long as your map size is less than 4mb there is no problem.

But bigger map = longer dl time at bnet

get the wc3 map optimizer. i cant remember where i got it from but it saves a lot of space. i have 30 new heroes, over 180 custom abilities (including hero abilities, unit abilities, and item abilities), over 65 custom items, and over 60 custom units, and a good amount of triggers (though no where near as much as maps like FFForever would have). but i have no imported files, my file size before optimizing is 266KB, after optimizing my file size is 134 KB, thats practically half the size. 1 KB less and it would be half the size. now it wont make YOUR map half the size because it cant do anything about your imported files, but it should save space for you.

By the way, this doesn't matter too much, but one megabyte equals 1024 kilobytes. That should at least partially account for any number weirdness you find.

how would i use the optimizer?? i opend it then got confused on wat i open...

you're all slightly off on the data amount conversions
due to the fact that computers are binary, everything is in powers of 2

kilobyte is 2^10 = 1024 bytes
megabyte is 2^20 = 1048576 bytes
gigabyte is 2^30 = 1073741824 bytes

etc... so really you're slightly overshooting your filesizes

Its not that hard to use a tool that has like 2 buttons, Open and Save.

Open your map, and save it to another file, the saved file will be the optimized one.

All the other little functions are for optimization, check/uncheck for your needs.

nvm.. i got it.. i managed to save a whole .47% and 11 kilobytes!!!  :banghead:

i didnt see the thing to change on wat u choose for the files to see...

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
