I'm currently working on an AOS map but I'm bad at terraining

the map is 128x160, Sunken Ruins tiles
theme is "Broken Isles"

this is the sketch:

and the work I have, so far:

I wonder if anyone could help me?

p.s: I use "(free)" because there is a terraining contest and some terrainers could be busy with it.

If you dont find anyone else i could give it a try, though i dont know what kind of "level" you need it to be at. Since I only making terrains for myself :p
equal = "hobby" terrainer.

Ps you pic that should show what you got atm, isn't working ;P

I think "average" is ok, it can be improved later :D

1. should it be water all around it? as in your screen shot?
2. any req as: no blizzard cliffs?
3. the purple/red blue big dots are?
4. should you be able to walk in the whole area of your sketch? or is it off limited in the restricted areas on it?

Since imo its all about taste in terraining.


edit:
by water you mean, walkable water or deep water?

1. all around should be deep water
2. you can use blizzard cliff at some places
3. sorry, just ignore them
4. water in the sketch is walkable

should the whole area be filled with walkable water in your sketch as your screenshot? or am i free to put some unwalkable water there and there?

and what do you mean with small bricks or large bricks?
should i practicaly make some kind of way with? yeah with what?^^

so the brown lines is were the creeps should run? since its an aos...

edit: also in the middle there you have marked water i can see 2 brown lines, does it mean that you want 2 diffrent "road" or is it one?

ps sorry for asking so many questions :p

well since my skill is around average, i though about asking you if you liked the ground form of the map.
basicly its just some islands atm but i wanted to ask:
is it something like this you want it?
is there something major changes i should do in the gronud before starting terraining it?

note: you may wanna use your own map since its the first time i'm actualy using sunken ruins :p

it suddenly hit me that you may have wanted a mid road? :O
and, as you can see there is some deep water in the middle of it, i can removei t but it sure will look better if its left there it is, but yeah... it may not serve your purpos.

edit edit:
the tree line in the middle, should it form a kind of "wall" or do you want it more like a forest? since it will be pretty hard to get it "good looking" with just trees

yea, I want a wall but if trees are not good, you can use something else (cliff, rocks,...)

howver do the mid lane seperation need to be vision blocked? or owuld it work to seperate some of it with unwalkable water for an example or something else that doesn't give vision block?

oh yeah, and clearing the mid path from deep water;
does that mean that i need to remove ALL deep water from the "playable area" or can i leave some of it for the visual effect and zone control?

hmm... would vision blocking prevents the creep from two parts (of mid lane) from engaging each others? then yeah, please do!

vision block will only prevent units to attack each other on the other lane IF they cant see each other.

equals
x | o
--|--
c | v

x is force 1 left side
o is force 1 right side
c is force 2 left side
v is force 2 right side

x wont attack v if o doesn't give vision on v for x.
but if x is fighting c, o will also try to attack c.

could be prevented by making 2 computers in each team with comp as x and comp 2 as o without shared vision.

will make it vision blocked anyway =)

off-topic: actually, I have thought about this too,

when x try to attack v, x can't attack v yet because of the wall, so x must find a way to go around and attack v, then:
if x continue its way and, after that, x meet (other) c => it's ok
if x... go back => it's bad/very bad :banghead:

so, I will think of a way to solve this later :)

anyway have edited the terrain a bit, will this serve its purpos with lanes?


note: right side isn't done yet ;)

can make atleast 6 spots if needed i guess, so far i got like2 and 2 potencial spots... should i clean up space for more?

we need 9 spots, 4 weak creep, 4 strong creep and 1 boss



if there is not enough space for these spots (or they would... conflict with the lanes or... "good looking" of the terrain), you can expand the terrain to the left or right side.
but keep the lane, only the spots are placed to the extended areas :)

p.s: the image is just an idea, you can place the spots where you think is appropriate

well to bad the map doesn't even look close too that picture anymore :p
i will make space for it however, can i move thespot left down a bit more to right nd a bit down, is a camp fire there... would work perfect as a creep spawn :)
