I just thought about this: have a command like -map show a fade filter of your map with locations marked.
Go to the editor, take a screen of view entire map, save it, then edit it up a bit in photoshop or fireworks or whatever, and then make it a fade filter.
Then go in the game, make a trigger so -map shows the map (for infinite seconds probably) and -off turns off any fade filters so it takes it away. That way people can really check thier map for stuff. And if you want to, you could probably have about 8 different filters and make them show more stuff as you get farther in the map. Like when you find a town, it appears on the map now.
Small problem: Filters must be 800 x 450. This means
1. Distort your image and have it look bad
2. Make your map inheirently a rectangle so its not distorted
3. Make 2 different maps and have -maptop -mapbottom commands.
If you have a square map, try option #3. 2 halves at 800x450 put together is 800 x 900, which is ALMOST square, so its not stretched lot.
Just thought about it, and i just spent 15 minutes trying to get it to work but i cant get my fade filters to work so someone else should try. ill upload my .blps so you dont have to go make some if you want to try it.
