Anyone here a Forum Creator..?

I was just curious since I got these two really sweet roleplay mods for forums, I was wondering if anyone here actually need how to do .php things, and html codes, and how to implement my 2 forum addons if I got some Free forum..? I've tried a while before and it didn't work out, just curious, I don't want anyone complaining and screaming something like, do it yourself, I'm just asking if anyone does make them because I wanted ot at least try them out. I'd be honored ^.^ <3

The 2 mods I got are like mods that add an arena.. some very sweet roleplay forum systems I'm just dieing to add them, they are just sitting there >.<'', perhaps test them out first hehe.

Perhaps the helper will let me use his network as.. hehe

I know that Rheias has a forum, but I don't know how much of that he does.

I think it might be better if you posted about any problems you have in the Webmaster forum so that you can get direct help about it. Not sure what your situation is, though.

Do you have FTP access? If not then it might not be possible.

I beta test a community I've made, and some "internet roleplaying game" stuff, which I find dead boring to play. But I guess it could come with a good income.

Though, it's all programmed in ASP. And no, you wont be able to see it

I tried Freeforums once. All you need to do is add forums/subforums using this one tool. I think it just allows you to do "Add Forum" then you just specify the properties. Other than that, I don't think you can do anything except manage the pips, member groups, and some other small stuff.

Rofl... I copied that from google. Anyways, FTP is just the FTP server for a certain website which allows you to manage/transfer files.. (?)

Rarely any free forums allow FTP access. That is why it is best to get SMF/PHPBB then just add the forum using its package. I'm not sure how to set it up though.

I believe the file is for a forum. You just simply use the files contained within it to build your forum. It does the work for you. It is like an SMF/PHPBB package. I think.

I've only seen TH allows world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net and starcraft2.thehelper.net
And those were made by two admin of thehelper.net

But does he pay for those 2 also, or are they just non official and hosted by the Helper..? I am currently in college, so I am not planning on buying a domain, so thats the only reason I use free forums, otherwise I would've just asked someone to add them ^.^.

It is hard to install self hosted forums on subdomains though I believe it is possible. I can make sub domains off thehelper.net, as many as I want but I am not doing that right now. Maybe later. I have done it in the past for many people and I currently do it for a number of sites, but no new ones at this time. We are in the process of moving to a new server and we have to see where we stand at that point.

Thehelper.net also provides the web hosting for Silkroadforums.com, Nuon-Dome and RPGStars.com.

Ok, well that was good to know, thank you, at least now I have hope, is there any way I can get FTP access for a free forums .. I'm so curious, the 2 mods that are in the zip I uploaded have like, forum roleplay, Stats, Arena, Shop, Item, Character, Movement, Travel, Fighting, Blacksmith, clan, History, Inn, race, class, town, etc.. sorry if I sound like i'm advertising something I'm jusr really anxious ^.^, well anyways, If anyone wants to try this out Heh *.*

Well...if you have a good connection you can make your own server with apache and php. Install phpbb or any forum board that's free. The downside of having your own server is that it needs to be running all day. You can later use http://yoursitename.no-ip.org instead of your ip.

Sorry but we can't do it now. We are currently evaluating our position on free hosting and I do not expect a resolution to that issue for at least a month. Your interest is noted though.

This is actually a valid option as long as your forum has very low traffic. Keep the search engines out of your site with a robots.txt file and also keep images to a minimum as they take up your precious bandwidth.

Is there any like guide to what needs to be done..? I can always ask my family back home to just use one of the extra computers to be online 24/7, but I am really bad with hosting, X.X.. And Helper, I didn't mean for you to use your domain, I just need a free forum, like free forum, and forum thats free that might support FTP, or if that is even necessary for the 2 mods I want to check out >.>

What you are going to be looking for is 2 things not one then. You want to find a free host. Then you want to find a free forum that you can install on your free host.

However, I recommend you get a cheap host. A good reseller. One that charges like 5 bucks a month for shared hosting with all the bells and whistles. The too good to be true offers. They are too good to be true because if your forum becomes popular it will crash the server but for a beginner it is perfect.

I don't have a good list though, maybe someone else can help with one of those.
