What is wrong with this spell ? It doesnt work :/ And I cant figure it out myself.

Trigger:
  • Entagling roots
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Starts the effect of an ability
    • Conditions
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to Rain of Fire
    • Actions
      • Set TempPoint = (Position of (Target unit of ability being cast))
      • Set TempReal = 400.00
      • Set TempUnitGroup = (Units within TempReal of TempPoint matching (((Matching unit) belongs to an enemy of (Owner of (Triggering unit))) Equal to True))
      • Unit - Create 1 DUmmy for (Owner of (Triggering unit)) at TempPoint facing Default building facing degrees
      • Set TempUnit = (Last created unit)
      • Unit - Add Entangling Roots to TempUnit
      • Unit - Add a 5.00 second Generic expiration timer to TempUnit
      • Unit Group - Pick every unit in TempUnitGroup and do (Actions)
        • Loop - Actions
          • Unit - Order TempUnit to Night Elf Keeper Of The Grove - Entangling Roots (Picked unit)
      • Custom script: call RemoveLocation(udg_TempPoint)
      • Custom script: call DestroyGroup(udg_TempUnitGroup)

The trigger's fine as far as I can tell, as long as the dummy is able to instantly cast multiple entangling roots at the same time.

You should check the dummy unit and the entangling roots ability to be sure that the dummy unit is able to cast entangling roots, and the entangling roots ability has no cooldown, long enough cast range, etc.

Some things that you need to ensure for your dummy unit to be able to get cast multiple times at once.

1) Ensure that the dummy unit HAS 0 movement speed.
2) Ensure that your Art - Animation - Cast Backswing and Cast Point are both 0.

You need to ensure that these 2 things are done on your Dummy Unit. Else, the Dummy unit will not be able to cast spells multiple times in an instant.

These settings were not on 0. But I now they are, but it still doesnt work. Roots spells also have 99999 cast range, 0 mana cost, 0 cool down, 0 cast time. Not even a single one of the units gets rooted

Are you sure Rain of Fire is a single-target spell? Unless you've based it off another ability and renamed it after, it should be a point-target spell.

This is the first problem that I noticed, plus the fact that you'll be ordering one dummy to do all of the entangling. Move the dummy creation and related actions into the loop and just order "Last created unit" to cast on "Picked unit".

Nope, one Dummy unit can entangle all the units. The dummy just requires 0 Cast Point, Backswing and 0 movement speed.

This way, it's causes less lag.

Haven't you ordered one dummy to cast on several units?

Yeah, unless Rain of Fire is a custom spell, this line should say

>Set TempPoint = (Target point of ability being cast)

Rain of Fire is the original Rain of Fire spell. Its the spell the hero has, not the dummy's spell. So is it wrong ?

"Target unit of ability being cast" references a specific unit that's clicked. It's for use in spells like Storm Bolt, Cripple, Soul Burn, etc. You technically don't ever target a unit if you cast Blizzard/Flame Strike/Some other AoE spell.

Therefore the trigger should say "Target point of ability being cast" because you target a certain point (or a range around that point).

Okay, thanks ! Got it working with that fix. But now I'm wondering, how I can make 10 levels of that skill. How can I make the trigger to check, which level of Fire Rain the hero has, and then giving same level of roots to the dummy ? 0.o

COuld do it with 10 "If / Then / Else" actions, but is there some more simple way to do it ?
