Area of effect selection circle

Some abilites, with area of effect, show an "area" cursor when used.
(Largish circle thingy)
Now, I thought that's because of "stats - area of effect".
However, when setting this field for an ability that
usually isn't AOE, the cursor isn't changing.


I don't actually need the ability to be "area of effect",
just the cursor to show up.


Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that the circle grows as big as the AOE of the spell. So if the AOE is small, then it will be small. and if there is no AOE, it will be the default circle. You could change the cursor in the game interface but it would probably be for all spells. But then again, I could be wrong.

Make your spell based on BLizzard/Flame Strike and change what you need to?

With those you can change the AOE (size of the circle) as big as you want.

I'm pretty sure when you reduce the AOE of an ability the cursor becomes smaller and eventually returns to the normal circle. So I'm pretty sure that won't wrk.

Bad news.

The cursor is hard wired in I thinks.

YES, aoe effect spells gets an AOE cursor that shrinks and grows appropiately.

NO, spells that don't use it by default won't be able to use it.



So as suggested, you may have to base it off an effect thats already AOE, if you want it bad enough. Maybe use custom spells or triggers to achieve the results ya want.

I suggest making an ability with a vvery small AOE. The cursor won't be very big, but it might help.

try using the channel spell, and in the "data - options" field, enable the "targeting image" flag.
