Police will take no action against the organisers of 'barbaric' cage fighting involving children as young as eight, it was confirmed today.

Concerns were raised about whether two boys were put at risk by taking part in a bout at Greenlands Labour Club in Preston, Lancashire, in front of a 250-strong adult audience.

But a spokesman for Lancashire Police said today the force had 'looked into this matter fully and there are no issues for us to pursue'.

Kicking, shoving and grappling each other to the floor, the youngsters were filmed competing in cage fighting contests in front of a baying mob of hundreds of adults enjoying a night’s entertainment.

These shocking images show the primary school-age boys fighting with no padding, headguards or protection of any kind in what critics have described as ‘like a circus performance’.

Who knows? I guess people that are REALLY into MMA?

I wonder if their parents signed their kids off to do this. Would it be legal then? Tbh, if the fight is monitored by a ref like it looks like it is, then I see nothing wrong with the two kids going at it. It'd be a monitored sport, then!

I'd prefer watching trained adults, imo. They'd do better fighting techniques.

We'd do stuff like this with friends in the backyard or at school (fight each other I mean), it's just kids being kids taken to a little more extreme level.

Father-of-three Nick Hartley, 33, whose nine-year-old son Kian fought at the social club, defended the event. ‘None of the children were ever in danger,’ he claimed. ‘There is no harm in cage fighting at all.
‘If he wasn’t cage fighting, he would probably be chucking stones at buses and giving people grief. But now he has learned some respect and he would rather go training than play out.’
Isn't it just a tiny bit drastic to make him cage fight as opposed to, say, exercising proper discipline at home? If cage fighting it the only alternative in your mind then I would question you as a parent to be honest.

When it comes down to it, I can understand giving a child lessons in other martial arts such as Karate, where they spar against each other after time, but when you're putting on full grapple fights - for other adult's entertainment - then I don't exactly think that's a good idea for such young kids.

Meh, it doesn't look like it's that bad. I mean they aren't actually hurting each other that bad, my friends and I did the same thing when I was younger, minus the cage and include a trampoline.

I agree with Wiseman_2 on this one. Karate teaches discipline and restraint as well as respect and control (self defense). These kids are just going all out at each other in a cage without any structure or discipline involved (at least it's what it seems like). I hope that they don't get the wrong idea about what makes a man tough when they get older. I can see them causing a lot of fights and getting into trouble because their minds aren't where they should be when it comes to this stuff. Let's hope not for their sake.

Tbh I don't see any problem with this, except it may make kids more violent when they grow up (but we just have to wait and see).

The parents aren't forcing the kids to fight, the kids like doing it.

Actually when you think about it, it's much higher chance that your kid will get hurt/killed on his way to school, than in this cage.

But yeah, it's a bit wrong that adults stand there and watch kids fight.

I remember it being on the news a few days ago!
Apparently, this is legal but some big-shot association does not condone it.

Well, what do you say about this? (A source at the Crown Prosecution Service said: ‘A young child being forced to take part in any violent sport could constitute child cruelty.)

Yes, so how are they going to prove force?

Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
