Aura help

Im making a map with lots of heros but how to u make the cool auras? Like a aura that makes enemy units slowed or a aura that reduces their armor. And is it possible to have a aura that effects only in the night? ty for read cya :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

To get auras that are BAD for enemy units, you need to put negative integers in the place of the positive ones, and switch the targets allowed. Files -> Preferences, check the 'allow negative numbers' or whatever. Otherwise, everytime you put a negative number in, it'll turn to 0...

You could try a trigger or basing it off of Shadowmeld.

Interesting, I had just been thinking about how you would create offensive auras. The negative makes sense. I hate to twist the topic a bit, but is there a reliable way to make a castable aura? I tried using Faerie Fire as a dummy, but it wouldnt keep casting the aura when Faerie was put on Auto. Dont know if there is a trigger that fixes that. If theres something else I could use that would work, that would be nice.
The reason I'm asking is because I am making a "static shield generator" building that generates an aura as long as it has mana. When I think about it there are probably other ways of getting around it, but I am trying to keep it simple.

My answer: No.

I've tried this myself, and it's extremely complicated, if it can even be done. Some auras are just flat out hard to do... (Such as abilities auras, like crit strike and evasion auras)

However, 'offensive' auras are VERY possible, and easy. My custom expanded melee map, New Age of Warcraft has many, actually. If you'd like, go to the the "New Age of Warcraft (Beta 1)" thread, and I believe the 4th or 5th page has the map to download. Feel free to look around.

I did make it so that it would cast. It just doesnt cast repeatedly and drain mana. Though... I think there is a complicated way to replicate it. the way i have it set up is that when i want the aura on, the ability is added, and when i want it off, it is taken off. What I can do is add a part where mana is drained in the process, and when mana hits rock bottom, it wont work anymore. I wasnt looking for something thats permanently auto-cast... It is a strictly defensive option for emergencies.
